Wintry Winter 2019-20 Discussion

Kirk 50/50 hasn’t given his winter outlook so I’ll wait on my final prediction. He has been 1-9 in the last 10 years so this year is important for is cred.

* the only year he was right was 09-10.

Making a winter prediction before Mid November is kinda silly imo. Give it another month.

you’re not wrong. Problem is looking to early and things have time to change. We are into mid October so these current trends and current indexes are starting to have more meaning but still it’s mid October. Still A good month before we can say we are really on the cusp of full fledged winter.

Personally I’m rooting for a fast December-January front loaded winter. Been awhile since we have had a rocking December. Chasing snow during Christmas season is always fun. I hate the 70s on Christmas junk.

I mean early predictions are just consistently WRONG year after year and should be discarded. Unless they show apocalyptic cold and snow anoms..then we hug ?

Who had the correct prediction last year? I feel like 99% had it wrong.

some goober I’m sure. But I doubt they had it pegged for the right reasons. It seems there was one pro who was in the general ballpark though. I know it wasn’t JB!! ?

Scary part is the upper 70s a few years ago was with overcast sky. It could've been mid 80s had it been sunny

I think i mentioned it earlier, but its still too early to even guess on winter, and that's why the more astute forecasters will wait until at least november to make their guesstimates. I personally follow isotherm and Anthony Masiello because they have a decent track record. Everyone stay positive for now.:cool:

Anthony is the best, can’t understand a single tweet but the pictures help.

It's because most forecasters like to go cold. Some do it because they know it gets clicks, like MSNBC Combo and Weather Indirect and @BigColdBiasBastardi. Others do it just because they have an underlying cold weenie bias. Forecasting winter temps for the SE would be very easy if you just went warmer to much warmer than normal every year. We are in a pattern, for whatever reason, where this part of the country just wants to be warm in the winter. It doesn't matter what winter forecasts say. It doesn't matter what the long range climate models say. It doesn't matter what the Almanacs say (any of them). It doesn't matter what the woolly worms say. And it doesn't matter how fat the chipskunks are or how fast the trakerjackers are flying. It is just going to be warm. And that's it.

Until it changes.
