That's true, just looked it up. Makes no sense. Seneca and clemson in the 50sThe 50s have really expanded over the piedmont of South Carolina back over to northeastern Georgia, pretty wild.
Actually I think today's sun angle is equivalent to around Jan 29th.I took a look and today's sun angle is approximately the same as February 8th. No wonder those late winter snows melt so fast.
I just got a mix of sleet down at the US1/US401 intersection in Raleigh.Looks like it may be sleeting in Wake Forest
I think just a sleet shower is going to be the highlight for Raleigh. I guess we could see some flurries later on.Don't think we will see snow at this point. The heaviest rainfall came too early, like it typically does with anafrontal systems.
I actually did happen to see about 3-4 mPING reports of sleet mixed w/ rain in Burlington & Mebane.
Win? :/
So while it's all sleet here in Louisburg the wife sends me another snapchat video of legit snow falling in the double R. I'm so mad right now lolWife just sent me a video of some decent size snowflakes mixing in in Roanoke Rapids

Downsloping, upstate warm bubble, mountains, whatever you want to call it, 99% of the time, my entire life, no matter how strong the cold push, we do not drop temps during the daytime in the Upstate!! Proof in point!Went from 41 to 45 when the sun came out, have been stuck on that since.
Temp down to 34 too.... good graciousYeah RR is in a little island of low CC, that has to be frustrating.
We dropped from 50 to 41 earlier today.Downsloping, upstate warm bubble, mountains, whatever you want to call it, 99% of the time, my entire life, no matter how strong the cold push, we do not drop temps during the daytime in the Upstate!! Proof in point!

This is a great representation of where cold air is the latest to arrive. Always when it’s coming over the mountainDownsloping, upstate warm bubble, mountains, whatever you want to call it, 99% of the time, my entire life, no matter how strong the cold push, we do not drop temps during the daytime in the Upstate!! Proof in point!
If it would've held on for just another hour or so I might've got there in time to see some snow.... oh well. LolYeah RR is in a little island of low CC, that has to be frustrating.
Perfect illustration in both above posts!! Why cold air being in place BEFOREa winter event, is ALWAYS most important facto! Realistically, I’ve probably lost 30-40” of snow and 12” of sleet in my lifetime, waiting on the cold air to arrive and waiting on the changeoverThis is a great representation of where cold air is the latest to arrive. This is true. Teens already showing up above 5000', and the ridge from nw Alabama up through Tennessee has been in the mid 20s all day.

After accounting for melting since it had fallen before u got there, you could probably get away with 0.1”Was still a little ice/snow on the windshield of my truck when I got home. Amounts to a trace??![]()
