Severe Severe weather threat April 17-19

Well, I guess I turned out to be wrong yesterday. I’m still not certain how much instability we’ll have to work with. May not matter much. Anyway, a big batch of showers are moving in from the south now. Wonder if that will affect anything for later?
Yeah wondering how long it will last and how quickly the sun gets out on the back side of these showers.

Winds are out of the south today which will aid in the transport of unstable air.

Hrrr shows the impact of these showers but then the south wind quickly fills the void with 2,000+ cape. There will be plenty of energy to work with.

This is a very intimidating forecast...

Clouds and light showers in the eastern Midlands of SC through the Pee Dee this morning. Hopefully that will help keep the instability down some. Once the showers push out shortly hopefully the sun won't come out to juice it up.

Same thing here and hoping for the same result. RAH doesn't sound encouraging, though.

I literally see clouds moving one direction and clouds moving in another direction....That's not good is it??

Tornado warning for Alamance, Orange, and Person counties until 10:30. Seems to be starting already and the atmosphere isn;t even primed yet.

Widespread amounts of 4-8 inches on the south/eastern flanks of the Atlanta metro since this morning. Still continuing to go. Areas could still pick up another 1-2 inches.

Good news the threat is ending for the mountains and most of the foothills (esp near Asheville) now. To me, I think triad and east will be under the gun today. Timing really favors central NC this time vs anywhere else. Some tornadoes are likely IMO.

Things have a funny way of balancing themselves out.

This was the exact same area that missed out on most of the rain that had hit the north/west parts of Metro Atlanta back in December.

Tell ya what, you were all over this last couple of days, long way to go still but that's a large area of rain the atmosphere is going to have to recover from.

And just as I say that, this....
It is west of me though, I truly think this incoming rain has made this a wind threat only imby for late this afternoon

And we could see another watch later issued for counties east of Wake.

Don’t agree at all on this large tornado watch mostly in the west. Do think central NC will be rocked around High Point.

There was likely a tornado on the ground with this one, looked like it had a decent looking TVS on it

This line needs to go ahead and get here.. the longer that thing fiddle farts around to my west the more worried I get. Still not super worried here but this system has already proved a lot of experienced Mets/posters wrong

There’s a small area near Norris I believe maybe trying to rotate. At least in the high levels

I'm wondering about the enhanced that I'm under still, because while it seems like thunderstorms are on the way, it's cloudy and seems like it's mostly stable. Do think based off trends, some areas east of me and northeast might be in trouble. Already some severe popping and it's not noon yet.

I don’t like the pocket of nothingness here atm. Solid greens to my south though so not entirely worrisome yet..
