Pattern Scorchtember

We are needing rain here in the NW part of GA where I live. In 2016 we experienced conditions similar to this and went a long time with out rain. I had planted a food plot at my hunting land in early September that year and it went 72 days before it got any rain on it. This part of the state is just the pit of hell.

Weren't there a lot of fires in 2016 ? I haven't heard about a lot of fires so far.

Reminds me of 2001 when it didnt rain for like 2 months straight from September to November !
I can remember my neighbor’s pond almost completely drying up around this time (turn of the millennium) then we had a big rain and the runoff from it nearly filled it back up. I can remember foul hooking a big carp in his pond when the water level was around a foot and it’s scales were falling off as I was reeling it in

I have learned that i really don't mind a dry heat. 90s with low humidity is a zillion times better than 80s with high humidity. I could definitely live in a climate with low humidity year round, even if it meant i had to sacrifice not seeing a lot of the beautiful lush greenery.

Yeah completely agree, everyone gets all huffy when we get the big heat wave days but most of the time if the actual temp is pushing 99-100+ the DP is lower and the HI temp is the same or even a little lower than actual, I don't hate those days.....what I hate is when its 88-92 at 10:30 am with a DP of 79 and a HI is 108-110 already...those are the days that I cant stand and we have WAY more of them than the big heat wave days.....unfortunately....

Many of us on the board will feel the lower dew points later this week. Even Florida sees a little drop.View attachment 23615

Dang, I may ditch the treadmill temporarily and do my 1st outside walk in months down here in SAV with these low dew-points! I love this time of year!
By the way, welcome back. I haven’t seen you in awhile. With pleasant posts like this, I hope you post often.

Holy moly, KATL up to 95 both at 3 & 4 PM. I bet their high ends up 96+! Insane but at least the DP is in the upper 50s there keeping HI near 94-5.

Larry,
Wish I could enjoy a treadmill, but even in Hogtown, on a July morning, I get such a rush out of waking the birds! And they get a rush out of me ... ... Plus, that's the only time I have quiet to say my prayers.

Thanks man! I've been over on the "other site". It's nice to see a lot of familiar names from the past.

96 at 5 PM at KATL! What a September this has been! Record is 97. Day after day they and others keep exceeding forecasts/models!
Thats what happens when you have a dry ground ! Not sure why the forecasters dont take that into account. Forecast tomorrow is around 95. It will probably be close to 98.

It frankly wouldn’t shock me. Another 98 would just be the proverbial icing on the incredible cake that has been September of 2019.

Welp looks like we might go into a Pacific northwest/Goa trough look coming up which means more ridging as we roll into October. I personally don't see anything that will stop the above normal stuff until maybe the 2nd half to last third of October. This sucks

Make it 16/16 for above avg high temps this September. Looking like tomorrow will make it 17/17, but Wednesday could give us our first BN day of the month

Would that mean more hurricane threats?

Have to wait and see how the ridge axis sets up but right now I don't think it's a classic east coast hit look

Lol, we can't get Fall because there's too much ridging and we can't get a tropical system to landfall because there's not enough ridging.

No it's just that this isn't really an east coast hit look on the eps or gefs

Get used to the dry. La nina flavor winter imo. Shettley will be household name as we roll into next spring dry bones. Hell have more ammo than the us military. I was gonna over seed this fall. Taking a pass. Ground is like concrete.

Hate that Wednesday-Saturday isn't a preview of what's to come and I just love that we're on day 15 without measurable rain with no real threat of rain for the next week, minimum, and honestly probably the next two weeks.

We weren't really having rain issues either until the pop up thunderstorm season wrapped up. Had something like 8.49" or so from August 1st to September 1st. 0 since then and at this point, probably 0 for a good bit longer.

Got a crazy amount last Friday from a series of storms coming through the Athens Area. 1.4+ inches fell in roughly 2 hrs. Lost power for a few hrs too. It was coming down crazy amounts on Epps Bridge and Atlanta Hwy for sure!

Still, hadn't seen a whole lot of rain, like you said, for late August through last Friday.

GFS is a disaster after this brief CAD event. The pattern change is pretty much gone through the end of the run.
