Good. It favors lots of blocking, as far as we know.
Although, some teleconnections are not as predominant as they used to be with our warmer climate. I wouldn't bank on this being significant
Won’t happen with the SER around. Everything will just move around this Bit%h.

With all this chatter on the SER I think it’s time for a monstrous snowstorm...a blizzard for the entire southeast...apocalyptic in nature as though hell legit froze over. ...that’s probably a little too harsh I’m sure but a nice snow storm for everyone will do for the 19-20 winter season. One can only hope.Same old story the last few winters, record cold in Europe and Asia and PNE, while SE bakes

I’m seeing what it is you’re posting but I just don’t believe it
Been some clean living going on east of 95 past decade. 95 and points east and the GSO corridor has done very well. RDU starting to make a comeback the past couple of winters. I feel like we (Raleigh) is due for a clunker of winter snowfall wise. When was the last time we had 3 winters in a row of great snowfalls.
Below are just the ones off the top of my head, I bet there is a few more.
Oh my gosh I feel so old....The December 2010 storm would make the vast majority of us very happy. It is definitely the last super widespread major snowstorm. The amount of NC with totals above 6 inches is absurd.
Ironically I was visiting family where I am currently living in Eastern TN. It snowed for 2 days straight basically (Northwest flow for the win). Measured 14-15 inches and I'm sure there was several several inches of compaction (probably 16-18 fell). By far the most epic storm I've ever experience. It was 20s and snow for 48 hours. I remember still going to church on Sunday morning with over a foot on the ground hahaha Stands out because we would shut down the town in Greenville, NC for an inch.
I'd take a 2010 redo in my first winter living here haha
This was really the first winter storm that really got me into weather. I was a mere 13 years old. Safe to say I was HOOKED hahaha I was such a nerdy kid.... HAHAHA now I'm just a nerd

This’ll never happen againTell me about it...I could run and jump back then. Can barely walk down the stairs with something not creaking/cracking.
What a great pattern that was back in Dec 2010...the pattern coming up has similarities. That was just a textbook miller A pattern. Maybe a preview of our Jan-March.

I can remember my Grandma telling me years ago that it flurried on Christmas morning when she was a kid. I like that I will be able to tell my kid and his kids about it one dayMakes me want to cry knowing that.

Sigh... that storm I will always remember as "what could have been." 2.5 inches of sleet wooooWe had this just last year on December 10th (it's still possible...).

Honestly, I like a good sleet storm. To this date my favorite winter storm was on Jan 6th 1996. I got nearly 6" of sleet. I place that over the 2' Carolina Crusher storm in 2000.Sigh... that storm I will always remember as "what could have been." 2.5 inches of sleet woooo
But I’ll never forget when that heavy rain flipped to snow. It was heaven on earth for this snow gooberSigh... that storm I will always remember as "what could have been." 2.5 inches of sleet woooo
Buddy I've had a little more sleet than I really want in my short lifetime. Also I don't think I needed to know i missed out on 7.5Honestly, I like a good sleet storm. **I think I read that 1" of sleet is the water equivalent of 3" of snow (10:1). So your 2.5 was like 7.5" of snow.
Hey I understand. The way I see it, we're way overdue for a storm that targets more folks in the southern and middle zones of the SE.Buddy I've had a little more sleet than I really want in my short lifetime. Also I don't think I needed to know i missed out on 7.5
Yeah sleet storms are pretty amazing given that it takes specific conditions for sleet to fall. While it sucks to lose out on a good snow, prolonged sleet events are just as good.Honestly, I like a good sleet storm. To this date my favorite winter storm was on Jan 6th 1996. There's a reason my username is what it is lolSleet usually is fun for about 5 minutes. Then It gets depressing because you ask, "Is this it?"

Hogtown ... will take as much sleet as someone wants to sling ... Actually, that is our most predominant form of frozen P ... SER notwithstanding ... and I love the NWS reports when we get it down here ... "unknown precipitation" ... makes sense, though ...I know @dsaur (Tony) would defend sleet as he is the textbook sleetaholic . Also, for folks who care a lot about durability, I think 2.5" of sleet will usually stick around longer than 7.5" of snow. Furthermore, the pinging sound of sleet is awesome. Of course, driving on sleet is often more treacherous though I wouldn't be planning to drive on either one. OTOH, sleet is the least likely of the main 3 types to cause power outages. When snow changes to sleet, I don't at all get upset. I actually kind of smile.
I think it was the first week of March 2014 we had a sleet storm of epic proportions . All of NW Tennessee received 6-7 inches. If you want to beat sun angle sleet is the way to go. Interstate was still covered with a packed 4 inches 3 days later.I know @dsaur (Tony) would defend sleet as he is the textbook sleetaholic . I wasn't in the RDU area when this hit, but man I would have loved to see it (..centered right over Bricks house):I think it was the first week of March 2014 we had a sleet storm of epic proportions . Yeah. I take sleet storm any day over freezing rain... least sleet don’t knock power out like pure ice from freezing rainYeah sleet storms are pretty amazing given that it takes specific conditions for sleet to fall. Imo, the last string of at least 3 good winters snowfall-wise were 1977-78, 1978-79, 1979-80, & 1980-81 although 1986-87, 1987-88, & 1988-89 were pretty good in their own right.

Y'all are crazy lolI like a good sleet storm too. There's nothing like snow falling and I'll take it every time, but nothing sounds as wintry as heavy sleet falling.
