Like I mentioned before, KMA can have similar output to Euro so this isn't totally surprising to see solutions within the same ballpark. Obviously those fine details make all the difference.

Yeah, there was some great grandaddy storm that likely had a big Hudson Bay ridge that trapped a clipper system underneath, which phased with a southern stream wave and triggered explosive cyclogenesis off the SE US Coast.
Doesn't ring a bell.
March 1-2, 1980… I believe the only time the entire state of NC got at least 3” from the same storm
Yup, that’s exactly it, I think you had a rolling animation of how it went a couple years ago, but southern stream wave progressing east, then a peice of northern stream dove from the NE and phased with the system and it unloaded

If that storm pass and strength are remotely close to what the Euro showed, it would have a much larger precip field/shield. I'd suspect everyone South of the Ohio River/Mason Dixon line would see QPF.
The cold feed approaching from the NE US trough is the best of any EPS run yet so far 
First EPS run with the pre storm 850s being below 0C in NC, this run is about to cook, pretty major change in just 1 run 
That omega block is starting to get close to the benchmark for big NC winter storms (ridge axis in central/western Canada , with that trend sliding back towards central Canada

Even the west-northwest to east-southeast swath of snowfall reminds me a lot of that old storm from the 20s.
I hope we connect on this one.
At this time range, you really couldn't ask for much better of a look from the EPS.
Looking in the background behind this potential, this is just El Niño doing El Niño things. Rampant pacific jet but shifted equatorial which makes the difference, which allows split flow and allows the higher latitudes to get blocked up, pretty classic El Niño driven pattern here, monster jet/blocked up flow in the higher latitudes = higher chances then normal of a big system

Sounds like DT is thinking I-40 North and Western Carolina’s. Virginia getting a big one. Let’s hope both Carolinas get in the action.
Out to 144, UKMET and Euro are in pretty strong agreement (obviously with some variations at this lead) at H5. Just the way we used to dial up our storms in the old days when promising patterns worked out 
JoeB favoring areas between 70 and 40 early on. Where we chasing?
12z Spire wasn't that far off the Euro solution. H5 low tracked across the Gulf Coast.
