Pattern August '22

Camping away from home but it’s raining big back home for the third time in a week

Tired of this Stupid Hot, Swamp asred Weather..
Clouds & Showers forming directly over head, only too drift inland, getting bouts of "light rain", (Light forcing directly above Me) only to "sprinkle" lightly, then the Steamy heat.. Rinse & repeat.. Recall,, I reside "just inland by a mile or so"..
Current Obs.
87/76F

Dewpoint 77.9
Humidity 91% (Honestly it's 100% in between those Showers)
Pressure 30.04
Clouds & sunshine
Winds ESE @ 8~10~15 mph, (depending on how close the the beach you are)..

It's been humid well into October the last several years making going to the state fair miserable. Dew points have also been in the mid 70s for months when that was usually more common near the coast.
Different climates. In the western Carolina’s the humidity is generally gone by the first to second week of September

I recall ,, as a young Tyke, generally first couple weeks of September, in the Early 1970's
Living in Fayettnam, NC .. Usually brought nice cool crisp Fall Weather. (Around the first of the School year)..

School starts first week of August here. You must have went back to school late.
NO, actually, school started in Sept.. (Or later), Because ALOT of Us Kids back in the Day picked crops (Like Tobacco & Sweet taters etc) .. We were once paid to bring in those crops.. AND the School boards had "Set Dates" on school starting, depending on crop harvest(s)..
job(s) that "Americans" wouldn't do.. LMAO.. ;)

Kids back then then, (Including Myself), worked the fields to buy our first car, Or, buy new school cloths etc..
Back in the Early~mid 1970's picking & barning Tobacco brought you about 200.00 a week in work.. Good monies back in those days..
(As a teenager).. Bought you school cloths or a good used car..
(Fondly remembering My cheap 1970 something Duster).. Purchased for less than 500 I saved all summer. My first car..

I'm certain @Shaggy Or @Downeastnc can attest to such.. Or doing the Seafood thing..

Maybe we've turned a corner... No more lows in the 80s and highs in the 100s but it feels like Houston today ahead of the frontScreenshot_20220808-152508.png

Really awesome pattern setting up from late week on, through at least D10. Significant east coast troughing continues to show signs of dominating, with highs generally in the mid-80s. It's going to feel very nice.

It looks like the back of the heat wave may be breaking this week, at least for the northern plains. Hopefully we can keep the eastern trough for a few more weeks though I know the west needs a break. GFS has some highs in my area in the low 80's and lows in the upper 60's. That's tolerable.

As others have said, significant cooling on the GFS through the run. Back this way we have highs in the upper 70' and low 80's. Still got about 3-4 more weeks before the humidity is gone, but hopefully we are finally starting to turn the page into fall as summer has been dominating since mid May. I really hope since summer started off with a bang and about 4-6 weeks earlier compared to the last couple of years that we will finally get fall to start on time this year.

I still hope that southeast ridging will build back in towards the end of Poorgust, but I wouldn't read too much into CFS/CPC. They aren't very accurate more than two weeks out.

Lol 3k
Actually if the 12z 3k verified I would double my rain since 6/1 in the next 60 hours

Despite last month's heavy rains which mostly fell in a 5 day period my beautiful green grass has now gone brown again. We need the rain as much as possible before we head into our typical September - October dry spell.

Been consistently mixing into the 65-68 range in the afternoons pwats have also been fairly normal. We aren't exactly in a big tropical airmass
Having seen any mixing here. Still in the lows 70s.
