Misc 2021-22 Fall/Winter Whamby Thread

How long does it take a major volcanic eruption to cool things off for a bit? With Tonga going boom, praying that it’s VEI 5 or higher to maybe temporarily set us back to the days when it actually snowed around here.
LOL. I never thought of rooting for a volcano eruption for chance of better pattern.

@SouthGarnerSleet you aren't clever telling a storm isn't an event for them. It comes across as mean-spirited, however you intend it. In any case, it's false to say it isn't an event in N AL. It may not be much if one, sure, but it is still an event.

Dad has been away on a mission trip all week and tested positive for Omacron when he got home today. Sounded like dog ---- when I talked to him on the phone this morning. Sore throat and fatigue. Symptoms different and not as severe as the Alpha strain he had in early 2020. Head cold symptoms.

Bad news CAE friends.

The 12z GFS has 33F. It took a while from you know.. having 40F recently.. but those of you on the 1 or 2F borderline; that doesn't bode well... since it struggles with CAD.

That link's article headline is this:

"Duke Energy estimates 750,000 customers could lose power in Carolinas due to approaching winter storm; company ready to respond"

I deleted the link but reads, “

Duke Energy estimates 750,000 customers could lose power in Carolinas due to approaching winter storm; company ready to respond

Thanks! The only text I saw was stuff about the sec lol. I couldn't see the title. Preesh!!

I think for Georgia we are highly dependent on CAD for any frozen. It’s precarious to think there would be any widespread accumulation on the backside. It’s always over modeled and almost never works out unless you luck out under a convective band.

I would only expect snow in Georgia in the upper NE areas, north of Gainesville and the upper NW areas, Cartersville and to the NW of there. Everywhere else will have severe boundary layer issues.
