Misc Stock Market

$SAVA was great for me today...never traded it but it had a huge sell off after hours last night on some 3rd party questions on whatever drug they are trialing. But it traded to the levels so perfectly...bought at $81 at the open, sold some at $85, then $89 then the rest at $95 as resistance was $96. I tried adding some back at $88 but got stopped out at $86.5. Was done with it after that...bought a huge gain for today. These bio's are so nuts sometimes.

So if you buy and a stock tanks you have to hold it for 30 days regardless?

In an IRA...no. But in your regular cash account only if you want to avoid a wash sale. I almost never worry about that in my cash account.

Been a while since bios jumped. They were due and we’ll probably see a continuation on some of these small cap bios in the coming weeks. Hot right now

$36b market cap for pinterest is scary to me. Might be ok for a quick trade but my stupid job makes me hold 30 days.

Nothing is cheap in this market...the entire market is parabolic but people will buy depressed stocks that are growing.

But I agree, it's not cheap.

I could kick myself for missing $XBI...double bottom, should have been an automatic buy but it hasn't stopped going up. I am looking to enter at pullback to $125 area. I think it keeps going if tech takes a break.

I had tried it a few weeks back but got stopped out for a loss.

$DKNG has been great, have owned this for several months at $50/avg so I was down 20% at it's lows. But it's fighting back...hit $60.

Sold on that last big run into the 70s, bought back in, held and sold again today. Been a big part of my portfolio this year. Looking to re-enter if there’s a selloff from Bagholders from May. We’ll see but it’s a good hold thru fall and beyond.

There are some undervalued stocks out there IMO. I like some of the shippers, like ZIM which is trading at a PE of 3 and DAC at a PE just over 2. The shipping stocks are just ridiculously cheap still, some are paying out nice dividends (SBLK, GOGL, ZIM for example). Of course shipping is cyclical but right now the high demand for goods combined with covid delays is creating the perfect storm for them.

I do agree though the overall market is getting pretty expensive. Makes one hesitant to jump in but at the same time you can miss out on nice gains trying to time the market or waiting for a pull back. About 2/3 of my portfolio now is in various dividend paying stocks and ETFs and the other 1/3 is used for daytrading and OTC. I take the daytrade and otc profits and drop them in the dividend plays each week.

Writing on the wall for tomorrow....Bullard said the same. Inflation is definitely an issue and we are seeing spending habits change. This isn't difficult to see, they should have been tapering back in the spring. We needed QE and low rates in 2009 when the banks were melting down but we don't have a liquidity problem.

Kylo, do you only trade technicals on bios or do you ever DD and go long? I'm in HGEN waiting for FDA announcement on EUA.

How do you think market reacts if that indeed happens?

Good luck with the FDA. They screwed SESN bio over a week ago after they had all but insured approval of a major breakthrough in bladder cancer. The FDA is in bed with the Merks of the world and rotten to the core

I don't own any BIO's long term...I will swing trade those...3-6 months but you can wake up one day and it's down 30-40% on internet FUD. Actually, I did own PFE for a long long time.

I don't know much about HGEN.

I follow this guy on the internet and he is bio guy and is really smart. I road PDSB from $5-$10 a few months back. Also, I bought NVAX because of him, and made a killing. He has some losers like anyone but he is very smart.

Maybe I’m too used to the Fed Governors all sharing their opinion about tapering, but I don’t think tomorrow is going to be about Powell announcing, “tapering to start during X month."

That doesn’t make it not close, what we see with August payrolls in is going to be interesting.

Another bumper payroll report and frankly, I expect to hear something firmer in late September then (and it will be interesting to see how stocks and bonds react on August payrolls day).

NOW, if the first sentence is completely incorrect, tomorrow has the potential of getting very interesting considering what has happened in the past couple weeks. I think Icahn coming in and selling those 3600 November puts on Thursday last week ended up leading to a lot of hedges for this week being squeezed on Friday and Monday. So, this market might not be as "well-hedged" as normal for tomorrow.

In fact, some of the red today might have to do with bigger money putting hedges back on for tomorrow.

Heck, even if nothing is announced, if the Fed isn’t careful with their wording, you could still end up seeing TNX soar which could cause a sell off.

This is on watch for tomorrow. I added a few shares right before 8pm so I don’t forget about. Would love to see a bounce at $12.50-12.70 at which point I would load up for another run to $15. If it can clear $15 then…
