I legitimately think he cares about the American public, but his heart really isn't in it compared to the stock market. It's the equivalent of a parent-child relationship, sure you bringing money in to support your family is critical for their survival and loss of that income could be cataclysmic and devastating, but it's still also possible to care more about the balance of your check book than your kid.

Yeah, it's certainly possible that is how Trump feels about things. It's also possible that he cares about the stock market a lot because that's one of the main things he was campaigning on and has worked to implement policies he felt would help it only to see it all come crashing down due to this virus. As a result he might feel the stock market is vital to his 2020 chances and in his mind if he loses the policies of Bernie would be very detrimental to Americans. Either way it's pretty difficult IMO to know what a person's real motivation is and how it might intertwine with the good of someone else and which is a priority, as you mentioned. What concerns me more right now though is the inability of Congress (both sides) to hammer out a deal when there are tons of people who really need something soon to help them out.

Actually I said 10k at one point. I can’t post in the Caronavirus thread. Because I guess I got to political wish I could post there again I’ll behave lol

If that's the case then, you must flip flop more than 384 hr GFS runs!! You're right, you did say 10K after you realized that 500 prediction was going to fall flat on its face, but those predictions are orders of magnitude different, not even in the same galaxy really... 10K likely will suffer the same fate unfortunately. I love your optimism but it's far too overzealous I'm afraid

It must be nice to live in your little bubble. Tell me how your opinion is even viable? Schools won't even be open until May 15th, and that probably won't happen. That's NOT back to normal. Not to mention the fact the there are people who can't visit loved ones in nursing homes and medical facilities. You are kidding yourself if you think any of those aspects are considered, "back to normal." Not to mention the ever-growing laundry list of restrictions that are already in place.
Its wonderful to live in my world Ryan....because I adapt to whatever the hell I have to adapt to and press forward. Having been through the hells of war I can promise you this is a walk through candy land buddy. I can assure you I wont be calling any hotline for my mental health but you do what you need to do for your family...….I have I life to live

This is awful. Both sides pretty much suck. We need a new more centrist party or parties. Our country is no longer fully functional due to both sides being off the deep end.

Are you saying that republicans want to help the average citizen and not corporations? The democrats are the only ones who want to require that corporations who receive bailout money not layoff workers as a condition of receiving that money. There was NO protection for the average person in the republican's bill. It was solely aimed at the c-suite and not the average person.
Aimed strictly at the invidual and small business, some corps who employ most citizens. Cant let them fail when its the govt who shut em all down. Even your dentist office.
Democrats trying to put higher fuel emmison standards for airlines, fund abortion with unlimited tax payer dollars, expand wind an solar credits.
SERIOUSLY. Do the right thing for Americans, majority doesnt subscribe your green deal garbage. The need help where they are sitting holed up at home, sacrificing to defeat an enemy.

I was wrong when I said 500. That was a unrealistic number from the get go. But yeah I’m trying to be optimistic but it is hard to be sometimes

The stock market isn't the only thing he boast about. How many people were employed under Trump......Those people who's livelyhoods depend on getting back to work don't need the democrats playing their normal BS games right now.

This round its one side that sucks. Dont lump the right in with the left on this one. I agree with you, its a swamp no doubt. Left, right and center

Oh yeah, I totally understand that, over optimism reinforcing denial is just as powerful of a coping/defense mechanism as outright panic, it's just our own unique way of coping with extreme, unprecedented problems like this one. It's something none of us will ever forget, just for all the wrong reasons :(

Question since I can’t post in Caronavirus thread. If Nc does a shelter at home order will South Carolina as well. So far the two states are very different

I am not going to argue with you anymore. There is literally no point, however, I will say one last thing to you... It's pretty insulting to even mention the hotline in the way you did. Mental health is a huge issue in America and I can assure you that many people will benefit from those lines. They are an important part of keeping people from getting so depressed that they might consider giving up. You said you were in war, so I would at least expect a little compassion when it comes to that topic.

Im not really arguing with you just stating my opinion (just like you). And as for the hotlines? Believe me I do have compassion having lost several friends in war and to suicide from TBI which I have a mild case of myself. If you feel the need to call one please do but you do have a tendency to want to drag people into your misery which isn't positive in my opinion. You do actually have the choice to find something positive in all of this. It cant all be negative unless you just want it to be. I want to help lift you up not argue with you man but you continue to fight it. You actually posted something really positive last week I believe and I gave you a pat on the back for it. The next day you were right back blaming Trump for everything you see wrong with this crisis and talking about calling a mental health hotline.....

Keep in mind Trump has a lot of access and inside info on things that we don’t have. Perhaps his statement is meant simply to speed up congress on a stimulus deal. Maybe he’s received some intelligence suggesting this won’t be as big of a deal as initially feared or that the effects of shutting things down too long will be worse than the virus.. or maybe with the new anti-viral drugs he knows we can start easing things up and treat the sick with those to minimize the effects of the virus. Could be a lot of things.
Now you are starting to sound logical and liberals can not understand logical.

Deep in his mind, he also likely cares more about the stock market more than people's lives.
And that stock market and this economy is what gives you and everyone a job and helps us survive. Take that away and then this virus will pale in comparison to poverty and homelessness.
