Snow maps. No snow up into Jersey and NYC today.
If there was a snow pack to the north I think this would have major ice storm written all over it

He has a very valid point about whether models are handling the low level cold correctly, should be fun to watch...

I want to be in the A section. Oh well. This just looks like a raw day here, not much fun. Maybe the models are not handling the cold right and it will end up colder here.

The EURO is winter storm criteria (ice) for the Triad.

I have a suspicion that the NWS will go with an advisory and stop at .1-.2" of ice accrual. Still a little more time for some model shifts, expecially since we should be getting better sampling data.

SREF qpf mean increased at GSO, let's see if the NAM follows suit with more qpf this run.

NAM is coming in a little weaker at 5H through hour 48 it looks like, maybe slightly colder aloft too.

I live close. In the middle of Pickens county sc. but i would be shocked if we say Ice like that.

NAM is significantly colder this run and holds the CAD stronger/longer. Verbatim it is a bad ice storm... on par with what the CMC has been showing I'm afraid.

As the NAM gets closer to its ideal range, it's slowly adjusting colder near the surface in the expected CAD areas. It's very similar now to the EC (for my area), with near warning criteria freezing rain. Expect the cold and qpf to increase on the NAM in future runs.
