Wintry Winter 2018-19 Discussion

This winter does seem more promising than the last El Niño (2015-16). That year, we remained in the 50s/60s/70s all the way through New Years with only about an inch and a half of total snowfall. This Nov/Dec looks MUCH colder than 2015 and is more akin to 2009.

I hope this pattern translates into snow, but it's very possible we end up with cold rain or ice instead. With the way things have been the last few years I wouldn’t be surprised if we don't see any flakes until January even if it is cooler than normal this December.

Wait what ??? You had that much on that early December storm ?? Holy s***

Yep, the thing is, more actually fell. We had the first round in the morning, but half of it melted. The 2" hr rates hit that afternoon. My wife measured 9" on the well house the next morning.

Yeah and the flip side, we payed for it. It did more tree damage than all the severe thunderstorms in the past ten years combined. Took two big limbs to the roof, but escaped major damage. My shop on the other hand took a pretty good wallop.

Last years snow was so beautiful. And the next day it was a bright, sunny day which made it look even more beautiful.

You should have reported that. It’s not on any official records or databases. So you’re basically the only one who knows 9” fell there lol.
