Wintry Winters Last Stand / March 11th-13th Winter Storm

I think many areas in north ga will switch over to some wet snow before this is over. Maybe just scattered snow showers or flurries.

43 here and 38 in my hometown of Carrollton. What the heck is going on ?

The heavier precip (rain) is along the I-20 corridor in Georgia right now while Dahlonega is mostly getting lighter precip. As FFC said in their disco this afternoon, in the WWA area, there can be some road accumulation if heavier precip rates are realized. That's probably why Carrollton is cooler, there is some top down cooling under the heavier precip right now. Per SPC mesoanalysis, 850 temperatures are > freezing except near the GA/TN border, so unless more cooling happens there and down to the surface, nobody outside the mountains and far northern tier of counties in GA will see anything but a cold rain overnight.

Now im novice but but judging by the the wind profiles on this overall the colder air is swooping in from the NW/N at the 850 and the WAA is sorta pushed and moving NE/E and is underpressed just a thought on the 850s but more work to go from the NW moving SE

The band that went through Memphis is really starting to shrink up like the models were showing

Cmc increases precip too. Yep time to get a couple hours of sleep to wake up to disappointment

Just arrived in Franklin, NC from Atlanta and it is coming down good!

Pretty stoked. Pics to follow.

Thanks Storm5 ;)

I decided to snow chase in the Mid Atlantic on Mon/Tues. Screw this 2-3 inch type snow. I want 1-2 feet or more !

It may have died a bit, but that line in south Tennessee looks pretty good to me. This is the kind of snow event that is my fave when it works out. It's heavy wet snow and it's not too cold. The best kind of winter storm.

Bust here. Have been under heavy returns all day. Had token flakes at time but the snow kept transitioning to graupel, sleet & rain. The past few hours heavy returns are moving by. But looking outside its barely snowing? What a waste of a winter storm. I knew better then to get my hopes up anyways. Lol until next year @KCHA

The issue of the Tennessee valley may be hurting again for Chattanooga folks a bit....although I thought that someone else said they drove to Chattanooga and it was snowing when they stopped.

That band does look great though, it's really too bad it was so warm until now. What could've been 2 or more inches of snow is probably going to be a dusting for those that get it unless it really gets heavy.
