I mean, just looking at that, it's pretty textbook. I'd take that just about every time; maybe make that 1030 a 1035 and knock the low south 100 miles. The cold source just isn't there. So close yet...
Have we ever had a time where the models didn’t flip flop between warm and cold, bad and good pattern? Has there every been a time when it showed cold and it just trended better and better for us and then actually happened? I just don’t get the waffling back and forth.
Exactly why there’s nothing wrong with tossing winter early. It ain’t happeningJust wow! I know it's the 18z GFS @ 384 but it just don't get no uglier than that pic....

No, really, what happens is that things look promising in the first week and then as you get closer to week two, reality sets in and things look like rain and 50 degrees. It doesn't really go back and forth. Can't trust the models outside 5 days and that's pushing it when it comes to snow here. It's all about timing. Things can look crappy one week and then great the next. That's why it's futile to get too excited or too down with the models from run to run. Nina, Nino, it doesn't matter. It's just gonna do what it's gonna do here in winter.
Why are you looking two weeks out to begin with? No, really, what happens is that things look promising in the first week and then as you get closer to week two, reality sets in and things look like rain and 50 degrees. It doesn't really go back and forth.
Winter starts late January and February because we don't have #snowpack yet.Why are you looking two weeks out to begin with?
Super late delivery if anySouthern should sell shirts with that on it![]()
I look at ensemble data at two weeks for large scale pattern recognition. I look at operational models at 144 hours as a curiosity and 72 hours for reasonable predictions. Why are you looking two weeks out to begin with?
Almost all of North Carolina scores? Toss
