Crazy how different the HRRR and NAM 3km are in storm coverage through today and tomorrow... I’ll lean towards the HRRR obviously since it’s updated every hour but I’ve noticed the 3km NAM likes to keep things tame for events then Ramps up last second
Probably, the closer you are to surface based storms and bigger cape, the threat goes up

Feels cool and more stable out there to me right now. Temp actually went down a couple degrees last hour.
It’s definitely not feeling cooler or stable here. Temp is up to 73 and the dewpoint is now 63... starting to feel like a swamp outside

What’s the chance of tomorrow’s line of storms being a Derecho? Seems like that’s gonna be a pretty gusty line of storms.

Dews went down here. Hot but super dry
Wind out of the SW... I noticed that RDU is ESE and GSO is E
Sun is peaking out with some blue sky ... bubble bubble bubble GORILLA HAIL BUBBLE

The tornado threat may be a little higher than 1st thought. A major dewpoint boundary cuts across NC at this time. Dewpoints in the mid 40's in the Triad down to Hickory and even down into the 30's around Boone. The dewpoints in much of GA and SC are in the 60's and even some locations up to 70.

That wind direction is probably the difference. Feels like a stable marine layer here that just doesnt have that feel to it.

While I don’t believe the HRRR is doing a good job at picking up on the thunderstorm cluster moving over the mountains and the evolution of how the storms will push through .. it does give me a monster supercell so I’ll take it ?

I never understood the watch percentage. Why put 80 instead of 90 of the watch being done? Is it a margin of error?

MCD discussion mentioned isolated 2+ hail and a few strong tornadoes especially later today. Already 80 at my house and mostly cloudy with RH at 75%

I was under the impression that individual cells were supposed to form in the Piedmont of NC/SC this afternoon. Does that still appear to be a possibility?
Possibly Altho a MCS is looking more likely

According to hrrr it’s looks like that will happen between 3-7pm today. Of course it’s just a model though
