Yeah, ngl I don’t like cold but that EPS pattern is ?, especially with shorter wavelengths/cutoffs more common in March

What’s with the eastern south east and below avg temp anomalies . Don’t think anywhere else in the south last 10 years has pulled as many below average winter / spring months as us. Mother Nature need to balance out for gods sake and drop the hammer on everyone from Charlotte to Dallas.

It was close. The Greenland into the NE pattern was more south too. The vortex in the NE was centered near maine/nf

We can't discount March when it comes to winter weather. I mean, if we can get 10 inches at the end of March... aka March 1983. Obviously, the odds are extremely low. But March is a volatile month.

That March 1983 storm is one of the first snows I have vivid memories of. Oddly enough it fell entirely during the daytime.

I didn't know that if fell during the day time, that's crazy! Wasn't snow reported as far south as Columbia and to the coast? Also, how long did the snow remain on the ground? I am guessing it was melted within a few days.

Had 7” in Elizabeth City from that storm.

I told you the torch was coming . Record warmth later this month for plains , Midwest , maybe into southern plains . Moderately above average further east. East Asia is on fire right now.

Yes and the one on March 25th 1971 fell entirely during the day. Well it did last into the evening. Biggest fakes of snow I've ever seen.

As suspected, the last 2 GFS runs are much warmer, thus pretty much confirming that my suspicion that its older runs giving a ZR threat to parts of the SE US on March 2nd are bogus due to a cold bias.

That 3/25/1971 gave ATL its latest major winter storm on record, a major ZR right at about 32 (so roads were mainly ok but not above ground objects/trees...32 and rain can cause a lot of damage)!
