Wintry More SE Snow ? (1/16-1/18)

The 18Z GEFS is playing catchup. It's improved from 12z, much like the operational at this point.

So I’ve been reading the comments and then the local stuff as well. Consensus is pretty much an inch or less for HUN. Is this being underdone or am I setting myself up for unrealistic expectations for possibly more than an inch?

An inch or less is the safe bet at the moment . We will have to see how trends go over the next 24 hours . It's possible you could see a little more up that way. Not a big snow with this system but it could have big impacts

Thanks storm...expect the worst and be excited with anything more than that lol I do worry about traveling an hour on interstate in the middle of this. By big impacts, is it safe to say anything that does fall is going to cause some big road issues given the temps?

Local mets in the Triangle are going to say less than an inch until at least Tuesday no matter what the models show and then adjust as the storm unfolds. That is what they always do so they don't bust. Greg Fishel admitted on Facebook today they have no idea yet what will happen.

Yeah, if there is a chance of a storm system, they usually play it safe until go time, but with this just being flurries I think they feel more comfortable talking about it this far out.

I have to say it is very frustrating when we are three days out and the models trend better and better and then take a step back in the same day. Not sure how mets would have any faith in them if they go back and forth 72 hours out.
