I just have a hard time buying into the fact that it would not feel the weakness sooner and turn North . Someone help me out. That's a massive weakness and a powerful storm . 1+2 = poleward

I haven't been able to look into it, but maybe take a look at the trough and whatever is going on with it versus the GFS/previous Euro?

I mean, a hurricane has never cut up through the spine of FL. That never happens (not saying that it won't happen with Irma.) That's rare for a hurricane to directly come up literally middle of FL.

It has to go on one side or the other of FL, possibly both sides as the track I mentioned.

The Euro is an absolute nightmare for the I-75 corridor, heck, all the way to Atlanta. I don't think the millions living in the Atlanta metro are thinking about 60+ mph gusts in this part of the state.

I-75 or I-95? Not a lot of distance between the two in Florida, but a world of difference in impacts.

It's one run. The theme today has been a little west . Let's see what the eps shows in a little bit

The ones that read this board are! I've got tons of old Oaks in my yard that the city won't let me cut down.

I was too young to remember Hurricane Opal, but I would imagine this specific scenario would far exceed the wind damage that hurricane did here. Fortunately, it's just one run of this extreme (so far).

Also if only we could launch weather balloons like that all the time daily, maybe we would save ourselves from some headaches. lol

Opal did alot of damage where I lived in Birmingham at the time. I was in 3rd grade. Didn't see anything close to that until Ivan came around in 2004

Interesting run by the Euro! Saves my backyard and sadly destroys another person's backyard.

I was in east alabama for Opal it was pretty awful never seen so many trees and powerlines down

To this day remains the strongest hurricane I've seen only ivan comes close

That eye would go right over my house in West Georgia if the Euro track played out geez the rain and wind gusts

Me too (in north central AL). Opal's winds howled for hours overnight. Surprisingly, the Huntsville metro area did not have significant damage or power outages.

Everyman for himself, just like snowstorms in the south! But in this case, you really lose if you jackpot with the eye!:(

Either model has my area in the right front quadrant after landfall! Tornadoes could be a concern!

Disney would get leveled. Not that they don't have the $ to fix whatever gets destroyed.
