Pattern Magnificent March

Been snowing in Boone for 3 days now, On and off. Over 6 since last night and its still snowing from this latest upslope. Must be nice to get snow everytime the winds comes out of the NW from late October through April
I'd be sledding on the hill in front of Justice Hall all day.

yeah we light to moderate snow showers moving through around the morning commute through about 8:45. looked nice and turned the tops of of the bushes white

The wife reporting snow showers in Roanoke Rapids and I just came through some flurries just north of Raleigh. Not a bad mid-march day huh?

Despite the personal disdain for IMBY posts, since all is so tranquil in today's discussion, here's breaking the rule ... A freeze warning down here at the old Outpost tonight ...:p:D;)

... and then there is this ... which would be a God-send ...

Anybody like wood coasters with very few high and low extremes but constant ups and downs and crickety bone jarring turns? Well, that's the weather for the rest of March according to tonight's Gfs.

Yep.

I really hope this goes the other way the next 30 years. We've got a lot of ground to make up.

24 degrees this morning. I am really racking up freezes this month.

Matt Grantham's discussion has me interested in Monday for a decent threat. The 18z GFS looks pretty good for supercells with large hail. I'd like to see more moisture in the boundary layer, but this may end up a legit threat for a good chunk of the southern states.

Probably ended it for the season in this neck of the woods (but ya never know with this winter), but got to 30º gain last night with a dadgum heavy frost ...

But then again ...

Yikes late March 1984 was no bueno for the Carolinas. Produced arguably the largest and most violent tornado outbreak in NC's recent history up until 2011. Eventually we'll get to a point in the warm season where even a cold pattern won't deter severe weather.

As much as I love weather, I'd go for simple 90's and ragtime summer in spring before seeing anyone have to deal with bad spinners and what they leave behind, or any spinners for that matter ... let's hope for a nice ease into April for all on Board ... ;)

Tennessee Storm? Is that you?

The EPS weeklies are putting the hammer down right on into early April. This might be one of those years where we go from a late winter climo pattern to summer in a heartbeat.
