Pattern Magnificent March

I really think we are going to get the cutoff I’ve been talking about, but it will probably favor the very western Piedmont and VA. I think we will see one last snow for those areas.

The timing and placement of this wave off of British Columbia in the medium range once a piece of it splits off from the parent trough and shoots eastward after next week just seems to generally fit the post -NAO east coast cyclone paradigm w/ the largest alterations in snowfall probabilities focused in the mid-Atlantic w/ NC on the southern fringe. Details will vary a lot but I think it's legitimate to speculate a threat could materialize from this wave down the line esp to our north if we make a couple "good moves" the next 3-4 days or so.

Stinks this pattern wasn't favorable for wintry weather at this point in February, there are a lot of very sizable events in east-central NC around this date. Our snowfall climo isn't as good as January but pound for pound we often see more big dogs when it does snow...

GEFS also agrees. Means look good for March 7-8 for at least mid Atlantic, NC folks.

Two new phrases that I hated this winter: SE ridge and SE trend! They both cost us ALOT of snow! :(

It just dropped to 59 in Buckhead. It’s finally starting to feel like late March around here!

Seriously. We went to Monster Jam in shorts and t shirts last night. It felt wrong.

Atleast we didn’t have to dress like that for Christmas! Guess that was a change from the last 3, a pleasant change!

Man, March really losing that cold look on the models now. Normal temps will be a win! Snow chances are non existent outside the mountains . Reading the MA thread at the other place and they were really excited about a week ago for themselves, now it’s almost like a funeral in there now! If they’ve all but lost hope for snow and cold, we just better stock up on weed killer and fertilizer, and get that lawnmower tuned up!o_O
