What a change from December already. We had 70s every week to three days near or below freezing highs lol

Well, the pattern change is here. This is the best looking GEFS we've had so far this winter. Hopefully something will pan out.

Yep just left greenville and it was 70. It's 68 here at the house and feels like july

71 on New Years Day and it’s not even 10:30 yet. Impressive.
Congrats to everyone who said pattern change in the last couple days of Dec or 1st few days of January two weeks ago! The signal was strong for it regardless of what models showed. It doesn't look too bad at all thru mid month.

Ridge axis out west is in a pretty good spot if we get a system rolling down south. It's not too far east to push the storm track too far east.

Next week looks interesting for sure. Crazy how we are dealing with 70s and severe weather today but might have more than one shot at snow next week. I guess the pendulum is swinging from one extreme to the other.

I mean, even just from Minneapolis to Nashville is an 84 degree swing; what is that about 800 miles?105 degree difference from International Falls to New Orleans.
Actually I just found Fosston MN is at -26 and Bowling Green Ky is at 75. 101 degree difference, 872 miles as the crow flies!

Looks pretty good, now let's get it stuck like that for a month! What goes around comes around right? I guess it depends on the forcing. If we can stay in 8, go to 1 good times. But if we go too far into the COD then back into 6-7, then sad faces. At least go slooooooowwwww.

Perhaps a bit of history for CLT records today. According to Brad P. the 1pm temperature is 77, and he says January is the only month it’s never reached 80… with enough sun the next several hours it may have a shot

It took time but finally the models are showing solutions that lines up with phases 7 & 8. Hopefully we can get the southern branch going just enough to slide some energy underneath all that cold. Really good look for a southern slider at some point in the next 2 weeks IMO.
I remember when winter was canceled and this wasn’t a pattern change just transient shots of cool oh yeah last week … lol now there’s no shortage in opportunities this is why u don’t freak out in November and December the time will come
