Someone is going to be really happy or really pissed Thursday morning. GFS versus NAM/Euro
I like to post the most extreme lol but the kuchera wasn't too bad either.... this will be a major failure for one of these models, any guesses which one?

Wow GFS shows lots of frontogenesis in the mid-levels at hour 42....the result is a band of heavy snow. GFS is about to score a huge coup or it's about to be the model people won't take seriously for the rest of winter. I'll be watching closely.

Ugh everytime I try to ignore the GFS it does some stuff like this and sucks me back in lol. Recipe for disappointment usually. Hard to go against Euro.

GFSV16 has been consistent the whole time. GFS continues to get better and better. Very interesting.

These are some crazy shifts for being a day out.
So far NAM basically nothing burger, ICON improved and looked decent and the GFSs continue to show major storm.... I'll call it now, Euro in the middle, flat, low end qpf with minor event (probably will be reality). Hope I'm wrong
Just got NAM’d by both GFSes. Interesting.

I really want the gfs to be right but I'm gonna have to lead more toward the nam. The nam is a short range model. The gfs is not

So this begs the question.........we had good runs a week ago for this timeframe with some decent amounts......wouldnt call them big dogs but solid 6 inch members on the ensembles and op runs.
Is this a situation like we've seen before where the models lose the system in the mid range only to bring it back at crunch time in the short range? The last 72 hour of trends have all been improving just not to the degree of the Gfs.

To be fair the Rgem matches the gfs with qpf but it’s just a lot warmer.
