Looks like in recent frames the radar out west is slowing down a tad and picking up
Gut feeling says those in the red need to be prepared for disappointment.
The less we can get this out of the daylight hours (or at least midday), the more it will help us (assuming it actually snows). Encouraging!Something interesting to note I remember when this band was suppose to hit us in the morning time and now it’s looking to roll through later and later soon enough we might be snowing as the sun is setting and in that scenario we could have to watch for some black ice issues but this is interesting latest HRRR at the end looked like an absolutely mean deformation band about to roll through all of central NC
It does appear tho that the hrrr is slighty to slow right now and maybe perhaps a bit to amped/slow vs actual OBS, still shows precip in MS while in reality it’s not far from exiting, looks like it did underperform in MS so far, should be interesting to see if the slowing on the radar will get it back on track in ALYea people are freaking out. They just need to sit back and enjoy the show. Latest hrrr. View attachment 101265

Never mention snow in the south until it’s falling out of the sky. Too many things that can go wrong. It looks like the ULL trending more positively tilted has really hurt us in N MS and AL. this sucks. I told most of my family that we would at least see snow though it may not stick.

Yeah, I messed up and told my 4 year old it might snow a few days ago…lolNever mention snow in the south until it’s falling out of the sky. Too many things that can go wrong.
Bodes well for us NC folks let’s go but I’m sure everyone still sees flakes! This is a winIt looks like the ULL trending more positively tilted has really hurt us in N MS and AL. this sucks. I told most of my family that we would at least see snow though it may not stick.
ETA: I hope we at least see some backside flakes.
Yep. The model trends were just too enticing. Lesson learned.Never mention snow in the south until it’s falling out of the sky. Too many things that can go wrong.

That was a fun one. I went from 45 and drizzle to 32 and heavy snow in a matter of about 20 minutesDoes anyone in the Carolina's remember the Feb 2013 storm? I believe it was a ULL. It rained for most of the day and then in a matter of hours, changed to fatties. It wasn't even predicted until game time. It didn't stick to roads. But it stuck to everything else. It was beautiful. Maybe got 2-3 inches within a matter of hours. Not that this system is anything like this, but these sort of setups can end up surprising the heck out of those who thought they were getting nada.

I would definitely say there is upside bust potential with the deformation band, but where it sets up and how strong it actually is is anyone’s guess.Does anyone in the Carolina's remember the Feb 2013 storm? Yeah this is something I’m surprised hasn’t been mentioned more. I’ve had 2.3 inches of rain since 6pm Friday night and the creeks and streams close by are now swelling up. It should be interesting to see the drought monitor when it updates this weekI know we’re all talking about winter weather but NC has to watch out for some possible big time flash flooding looking like a long duration of just very heavy returns overnight and into tomorrow buckle up
