Wintry Jan 15-16 Winter Storm Discussion & Obs

Still mixing snow and rain in Jasper… hoping to awake early to see all snow. Was hoping to see all snow by this point but ?it is coming soon.

View attachment 106425Um slug of moisture heading north towards central nc already. Hrrr has nothing even remotely close to this
I've been watching that evolve on radar. It started out as a thin band of snow over Topsail Island and then exploded from east to west. Looking at current radar moisture is building off the Atlantic and continuing to move on shore. No one saw that coming at this stage.

Kinda waxing and waning here in terms of how much snow is mixed in. Might be difficult to transition to all snow after all

Is bham screwed?
Probably. I think there will be a snow hole for Jefferson, Walker, Lamar, Pickens, and Fayette counties. Most of the short range models show this. Still, I’m happy for our friends on this board to the North, Northeast, Northwest, West, Southwest, East and Southeast. Not everyone can get in on the fun every event and we have a chance with the system on the 21st!
