Wintry Jan 15-16 Winter Storm Discussion & Obs

No gonna lie that pretty far south, should start to pivot very soon... unbelievable this still ends up going through western NC, jeez

Yeah if I looked at something like that and didn't have any idea where the models were taking this thing. I'd think much of the South would be in for a big snow.

It's pretty significant farther east. 3k gives Wake about 8 hours of frozen precip. Not too shabby.

Snow Depth is not a good tool IMO. I've seen it bust WAY too low several times. In 2017 it had Cobb county at 2 inches and some places got over 10. It thinks a warm ground will eat everything.

Kuchera or regular are the way to go
Yep, never a good tool. Kuchera has been bad quite a bit as well.

Talked myself out of buying a generator today. Knew this would start happening
Home depot G boro I
Counted 13 checking out while I was there. 850 a piece. Had mine 21 yrs., bought day after crusher. Paid 600 with tax at lowes back then. So they've stayed in check somewhat price wise. Changed plug out today. Still chiming. Thing been lifesaver, espeacilly back 2000, 2002 ice to name a couple. Gets cheaper every storm.

Hopefully sleet saves day for alot of folks.

Still looks breezy tomorrow

Anybody know if the NAM wind maps are even in the ballpark? I know the Euro maps are awful, but I don't know about the others. My guess is it's too high. But even gusts into the 40s are nothing to sneeze at.
