We've had many debates over the years about it. My reasoning is immediate downloading spot in SC and lake keowee which is a Duke power lake. At the discharge(mid lake) the water stays near 70 degrees in the heart of winter. Thats just a small part of the lake but surface temps immediately around that area are always at least 3 degrees warmer for about a square mile or so. Which also leads and pretty much borders into Pickens County. When I'd leave work in November at 5am it would be say 27 until I got down the road away from there and it would be 23. Then when you have borderline temp events where 1 degree at 950mb means everything then it comes in to play. I'm at Mcguire nuclear now which sits on lake Norman and I do believe this area close to Huntersville NC experiences the same problem. Again only my opinion

That fronto band on the euro is very impressive, with 1-2” per hour snow rates 
That’s a classic I-20 north storm. Almost like feb 2014.

Maybe longer than that. The ULL in the last event trended south almost until verification.

I think some areas from CLT-GSO could pick up over a inch to near 2 inches of sleet in this setup with the snow and ZR lol

I am getting more and more confident that we could get a quick 2-4" in the upstate with that initial precip. Especially along 85.
South central TN went from 2” to 16” in one run. Now that is a good trend.

Didn't like that Euro run at all. Just a whole bunch of freezing rain. Sleet would be fine as it accumulates and doesn't knock out power. Hate the track of the low as well.
At this point the globals are what they are I guess. Time to watch the NAM and RGEM.

Can't really tell if this was a wobble 'twixt the NAM earlier or respecting the GFS a little bit. Really curious about that energy transfer with the LP. Seems like that would dry up precip in GA given that is goes from SW of Birmingham @hr 72 to near Charleston @78.
I admittedly am not good at understanding this...just watching the letters move from one spot to the other.

The euro already has snow moving into Atlanta shortly after midnight. Gonna be a fun night.
850’s are plenty cold on the front end. I would probably bet on the heaviest frontal band setting up south of 85.

That’s probably 1.5” / hr rates if precip starts at 1am.
