Wintry February 6th-7th

Euro is WOW? . About as dream scenario as it's going to get with this storm. Less amped southern stream shortwave means less initial WAA and more southerly track. It's going to be so important to track how far south our front gets today since that will set the stage for everything. I hope this is not a mirage, but that Euro run was something else.

The key for our neck of the woods is for the precip to get in here a few hours earlier than progged to give us east of Atl peeps some love before the waa changes us over to a cold rain.

Agreed, same goes for all of us. The Euro was several hours quicker than past runs at getting precip in, and that really helped us all out.

Might need to chase this to GSO if this look holds up. Could possibly be a warning criteria snow there if this holds together (probably under 50% still, but hey there's a shot). Maybe...... Not so confident for Durham, though who knows. If GSO gets warning criteria, it will probably snow here, too, but I expect less here, regardless.

And we know how these storms love to come in earlier than progged so I have some hope there. This could be the rare scenario where coming in early means the difference.
 
What's up with the GFS V16? It doesn't look like the 00z run ever ran? It would be nice to see since it seems to have had a decent handle on this system.
