Headed to sapphire valley on Saturday

Ill be in Boone. Ground is still covered in several inches of snow. They get popped twice this upcoming week, it might end up as a all time greatest year up there. One of our mtn posters has posted that the ground has been covered above 4000 ft like 63 out of the last 65 days.

Has Glenn B addressed our area yet?? He was talking winter weather a few days ago but Mellish mentioned “no worries for anything besides liquid for weekend”....always love the local drama?

Nothing for the weekend except the mountains and did say to stay tuned for super cold next weekend.

I don't remember the year but remember we had over 3inches of sleet in Winston. I remember plowing it and watching it roll down hill

The good ole days when you could make cash plowing. Now you have to convoy 3 states away to make money in the winter.

It may have been 1994 the last time we had big sleet. a couple of inches followed by major cold. Airport was closed for days because they did not plow while "soft" then it turned to concrete. Might be wrong on the year, but was around that time. Plowable sleet is not common.

00z GFS a bit south? Nice front end thump for the NC Piedmont. Is there hope? Seems the NW shifts have stopped, anyways. Will be interesting to see the other modeling tonight.

00z RGEM came south a bit compared to its 18z run. Hammers NW Piedmont, it would appear (might need to check soundings, though). Roxboro bullseye, which seems legit.

CMC solid hit for NE GA/ northern edge of Upstate and western third of NC. Even Charlotte gets a decent frontend hit on it.
