Pattern Fabulous February

What is weird or maybe not is the 540 line on the GFS has not changed that much in runs between raging front end snow, to ice, to mudslides. Proves I have much to learno_O

Fv3 coming in with a widespread hit for NC. It showing accumulations of snow but most likely it’s an ice storm.. I would watch the threat only because models are trending a little colder with the other two systems CAD and that’s on all models... once again would be another big bust for the Fv3 if it didn’t happen due to how close we are to the event. But once again i will throw all my eggs in its basket .... only cause I’m desperate at this point... it’s gotta be right eventually right?

Yeah nothing is making any sense this winter :p

Everyone said we needed a SE ridge to make our weather interesting and yet here we are zzzz
Yep. That ridge is going to make every system explode and it will rain so hard we’ll be begging for drought conditions come July

Flooding could be a real concern for areas in northern Alabama and Georgia if the Euro and other models are right. The Euro 10 day rainfall is showing 6-10" across these areas. Btw is anyone getting an issue saying files can't be attached? I tried to upload the pic but it gave a message saying the file couldn't be written to the server and the site admin needs to resolve this.

Any maps for the Fantastic Voyage 3? Has it backed down yet with the winter storm for NC?

Aren't we 6 days out now from what the FV3 is showing? If so, that's usually when the storm disappears.

The fv3 map is deceiving, it's assuming everything at or below 32F falls w/ 10:1 ratios as snow when in reality it's a very miserable, cold rain for everyone except the VA border and north-central mountains

Yeah, I'm just saying this is usually when the FV3 lets go of the winter storm idea. I just wonder how long it will keep showing it.

My point is it's actually not really showing it anymore around here other than areas like the mountains/foothills and maybe the Va border where it's easier for the pattern to produce wintry wx.

Fantastic Voyage 3. I like that nickname Brick. No doubt its always got a fantastic voyage long range. Glad to have a model around that gives me 100s of inches of digital snow every year. The only snow we seem to be getting these days.
If anyones interested Mamouth Mtn ski resort out in California anounced they would be open till July 4th this year. Theyve had like 15 feet of snow over the past couple of weeks. Unbeleivable pics from that area.

Correct, the Pivotal maps are the only ones that seem to use the correct algorithm whereas the TT maps are WAY off with whatever Levi is using. It's not a problem with the Fv3 but how the maps are represented and in this case the wrong algorithm makes a huge difference. I would upload a pic of the Pivotal maps but the upload feature still isn't working for me. Fv3 is slowly shifting to the Euro idea, no surprise.

The upload feature is not working for me either so you're not alone. The fv3 is essentially showing a repeat of the mid-November ice storm that crushed the north-central mountains, w/ the Boone area being among the hardest hit in that case.

Have you tried to save the image to your phone or computer and upload from there? That usually works for me when I get errors the other way. The site has been running slow intermittently for me, though, so that might be part of the issue.

Levi is using the normal FV3 algorithm

I'd venture to say that we are done with below freezing temps here in Columbia for the month of February. Sad saying that on the 14th, but I don't see any cold air for the rest of the month. Highs look to be in the 60s to a 70 degree day here and there the rest of the month. What a Fabulous February.
