Took us a while but back to freezing here. 32F I’m assuming with 850s as cold and temps maxing out in mid 30s there won’t be any ptype issues?

Looks like a lot of the snow that fell here earlier were rimed plates which form at warmer temps than stereotypical stellar dendrites, makes sense given today’s environment and that this snow shower wasn’t particularly deep

There are some signs that the streamers coming off the VA Blue Ridge are starting to break containment. We'll see how that goes as the afternoon progresses. Those are probably the best shot we have in the Triad.

Don’t be discouraged if you’re not seeing flurries right now .. HRRR has 2-4 being the timeframe that things break out across the triad and spread east... I’m excited I have high hopes for widespread flurries

After two days of showing flurries on the HRRR here in the Midlands, it’s looking like we will miss out. Sure, Murray may fire off something later, but it’s hard to bet on that. We need a southern slider to break the curse down here man. Sheesh. Anyways, glad some of y’all are seeing it.

If you are more than 10-15 miles south of the NC-SC border your chance looks like it is gone. Downsloping wins the battle again.

The clouds have rolled in. Mostly cloudy and 28 degrees but no flakes.
Meanwhile I can’t even get a cloud deck to build in SMH. Talk me off the ledge please. Damn if it isn’t frigid though

I wouldn’t give up just yet, keep an eye on the cumulus deck and watch for more convection off Lake Murray. If it hasn’t happened or appear imminent by around 3 I’d say it’s over

Same here at RDU. HRRR really doesn’t ramp it up until 3p. So I’ll give it time. Not a flurry yet.
