Tropical Major Hurricane Harvey

Sad that the weather channel reporters are trying to rescue people from the flood now. where is all the help?

They were smart and evacuated

From the reports that I'm getting from family Texas is doing a good job considering the circumstances. Hard to prepare and make people understand what 20 to 40 inches of rain will do. Bad situation.

This is a situation that is impossible to handle with local and even regional resources. I'm sure the first responders have been going non stop for nearly 24 hours now. It's time to activate a large military response, if they haven't yet. I'm sure there will be plenty of second guessing when this is over, but this has been well forecast for days. People have to be told to evacuate or inform them that they may be on their own for while.

Nam 3km sits Harvey in the gulf south Texas/ La for a while.

In case anyone missed, the new cone was posted. It also appears Harvey will gain some strength over water. Up to 45 mph when it gets there.

Gov. Abbott mobilized 3,000 additional NG troops today; that's about a brigade-level force.

A second hit as a tropical storm with everything they have already had is just unimaginable.

Unofficial report from one of my Facebook friends of 32.4 inches in SE Houston crazy to think so much more to come

Will be hard for Harvey to strengthen if the 18z HWRF is right. Harvey is not stacked vertically at 30hrs. We will have to see how long it takes to re-stack to see how much if any restrengthening occurs.

That said, looking at radar, it looks pretty stacked to me. In fact still getting some 60-65mph bins on radar on the northwest side. That is very impressive.

Impressive indeed.... Looks like center is around Victoria, this thing getting close to getting back over water

IDK, but if its stacked with all that energy still in Harvey, it might not take much for a fast ramp up in intensity. 3km Nam had Harvey in the gulf longer

Local Lafayette, LA meteorologist talking about a lot more serious rain starting overnight.

he looks ready to hit the water ahead of schedule

This might be interesting

I was thinking the same. Either way though, just looked at current and future radar and Houston's about to get slammed again all night long it appears. Incredible. I can't even fathom this.

The inner core is pretty lacking atm(not much wrapped around the center) but we'll see what happens when he hits the water

Looks like another super band is gonna set up near Houston

As Harvey moves south, won't most of the rain bands with it move to the north of Houston?

Judging by radar towards morning they briefly hit in a dry zone south of the band but then the whole band sinks south and starts up over Houston.

That band to the SW of Houston, is a beast and will have to rotate through Houston proper at some point! Not good!

Why do people keep saying "The eclipse caused Harvey..". ‍♂️. Not here but Facebook lol. A mess ‍♂️

When is he supposed to be pulled north?

Tuesday and especially Wednesday, Wednesday morning should be landfalling around Galveston as of now

Tuesday it'll probably be parallelling the Texas coast SW Of Galveston

they're also saying that the eclipse is the precursor to the end of the world.

Sounds like if the NAM is right the worst is yet to come for the Houston area.
