I hope your head doesn’t explode when we control the house, senate, and WH after the election.
My head will not explode either way, however you can rest assured my business will likely explode, my savings will explode, my IRA will explode, and explode downward, not upward

hope not.

I hope so. This issue needs to be resolved without leaving the people affected in limbo. Take it out, and it makes Congress get off the toilet and act and get them a chance at becoming a citizen. I say this as someone who really sits in the middle.

For the record, I think the incomprehensible, incompetent, insincere, incapable, incoherent, illusionary, invisible, Joe Biden will win. He just has to allow Trump to keep sticking his foot in his big mouth and say nothing (which is what Liberals do anyway). It is very very difficult to see myself voting for Trump but impossible to vote for Biden so I will write in a name most likely.

Just watch the left continue to try to tear the country apart and divide us even more than we are and maybe you will change your mind by November.

Did you write in during 2016?

All for renaming things. Even aunt jemima and uncle bens. Those are 100% based on racial sterotypes.
its coming.... soon white shirts will be banned since they are white. This poop is getting stupid. Peope just want to complain. Wish they would go to work.
Because liberals never stop it goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on. Public pressure it goes on and on and on and on and on.. if someone is that offended with things in life they just need to give up.

Lithia, I understand your concern but the slippery slope is very real. If we sat down to think about it just about everything could hold racial undertones. What about stuff named after native Americans and Mexicans, like rivers, lakes, towns and cities? Are we going to to say those are offensive because they remind those groups that used to be their land or water? What about names of states like Washington, Oklahoma, Colorado. Countless school and colleges and buildings would need to be renamed. People are already talking about trying to do away with (any) red hats. Now blue is apparently offensive because it represents police; the chick-fil- a CEO just issued an apology because someone was wearing a "back the blue" shirt a few years ago and it was actually referring to a football team. What about the American flag, should it be changed because it represents a country founded in the midst of slavery, native American abuse, and the Mexican war? What about the British? We went to war with them over independence, should we do away with everything British in our country; everything from entertainment to cars? Everything named after Columbus could be changed as as well. But that is just the beginning. Many people would love to have anything named after conservatives or Christians changed, since those offend people too. It could literally go on forever.

While I certainly don't have any desire to name stuff after bad people (nor am I advocating for it) I just don't see how it's possible to remove all this. Everyone can be seen as offensive to someone. Again, our culture has it backwards. It is not possible to keep people from getting offended. Period. We have to teach people to take control of their emotional and mental well-being and decide not to be offended by everything. Removing everything offensive isn't possible and would never work. It is way more effective to learn to not be offended. Which one do you think is more empowering?

Can you imagine polls being wrong 2 general elections in a row? Repubs would bring that up for the next 50 years lol. Dems would **** their pants

let’s just start with the overt stuff like aunt jemima and uncle Ben. Let’s see where it goes.

The problem is that BOTH the left and Trump are very divisive. Just because the left as a whole has been the most awful in recent weeks with the anti police crap (just like they were in 2014), that doesn't make me forget about how divisive is Trump. He may not be a math whiz, but division is what he does. We need a Kasich or a Rubio, stat.

While we are on the subject of law enforcement. A couple of years ago I was driving, pulled in a convenient store to get some gas. Got out of my car, getting ready to put my card in the slot when I saw a cop with his hands on his holster telling me "Sir, get back in your car and put your hands on the steering wheel NOW!!!!!" It scared the crap out of me, I got back in my car as he said and then he proceeded to ask me "Do you know why I pulled you over?" I said "No sir officer (thinking to myself I didn't even realize I was being pulled over-no sirens lights or anything). The cop said "a large sheet of snow fell off your car and landed right in front of me when I was behind you, next time you drive out, make sure you completely clean the snow off your car." I said, absolutely, thank you officer.

But that scared the crap out of me. Have no idea how some people can see an officer with a gun and proceed to talk poop to them.

I would think that most of us would admit we are at least "intimidated" by the police, but isn't that necessary? They enforce law. Without law enforcement, society would be so chaotic it would not be fit to live in. Sometimes that means they have to use force that others of us can't use. Yes we need to continue to train better and it's obvious we need to update some philosophical approaches and techniques. We also need to have better systems for identifying appropriate candidates, disciplining inappropriate behaviors, and disabling the "buddy" system found in some departments. But, LE is essential, and most are good. The authority they posses is intimidating, even for white people; but without it, who would obey our laws? That, in no way, excuses brutality or unfair profiling, but as citizens, we all need to recognize the purpose and importance of that authority and do what we are told. Even if the police are making a mistake, they have 330 million other people to think about keeping safe and there are proper channels to fight back against unfair arrest or treatment. If you comply, fair or unfair, your chances of surviving your encounter go way up.

They banned football years ago....?

Be careful what you say about UF as the very proud gator @pcbjr wouldn't appreciate it. If he were to come back (I wish he would as he's unique in a very good way for this board but I fully respect whatever he decides/has decided), you may be in deep doodoo.

White privlidge won't allow most to understand you

Maybe the concept of "white privilege" is keeping you from understanding others? If I thought everyone around me was more "privileged" than me and that they were all out to get me, or even hated me, I would probably feel afraid and victimized all the time. But maybe, just maybe, that isn't true. Maybe some think that way, but maybe many really do care and see me as a person instead of something less. Maybe I have believed a lie that has been fed to me for a long long time and that has shaped my view and experience. Maybe I have more power than I have been led to believe.

White people have it so hard, they get blamed for everything and only get to control the world in return
Do you realize how inflammatory and divisive this is? Also, you’re generalizing, which makes you a bigot.

Heelyes, I can't pretend to know your life story or your sources of pain but I have a question. Is it possible this statement you made is part of the problem? If the first word were substituted for another color would it be "racist?" It is factually wrong, of course, but that is for another post. Do you hold racist views in your heart? Maybe white people aren't as bad as some of your posts seem to indicate? Some are terrible of course, but most aren't too bad, I bet.

Got his feelings hurt that a post of his was deleted that contained another post that was deleted.

I doubt that's the only thing keeping him away, but I'm curious. Was there a way to still keep his post? Maybe he thought he was being singled out at no fault of his own.

The whole “white privilege” is complete idiocy even if a person does believe it exists at heart. If you want someone to understand your issue, you need to be much more tactful instead of saying they are what amounts to “unconscious racists”. You pretty much switch off most people’s understanding at that point.
