white people don't have a history of being subservient and slaves in the US. Those two figures are based off of that stereotype.
Why do some of you guys care if the names of those two brands are changed? It’s not that they are being forced to. It’s a voluntary rebranding.
Because liberals never stop it goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on. Public pressure it goes on and on and on and on and on.. if someone is that offended with things in life they just need to give up.

That's like saying KFC and Colonel Sanders is a white supremacist because he's an old white guy from Kentucky.

Colonel Sanders was a real person. Aunt Jemima is a fictional character based off a stereotype. That's the difference.

I don't care what they do either way, as it's obvious the 2020 versions of Uncle Ben and Aunt Jemima aren't portrayed as stereotypes. People getting upset either way need to reexamine their life priorities. But I'm guessing Quaker and Mars have a better idea of what sells than anyone in this thread, and you can bet they made the decision in the interest of selling rice and syrup.

Its hard to watch a country you risked your life for become a nation of boot lickers

I agree but in this particular case about aunt jemima and uncle Ben I disagree. This change was a long time coming. Me and my wife we talking yesterday about Stone Mountain. Good luck removing those symbols.

This has nothing to do with confederate symbols.

Why should they when they can get employment for less? When I hire someone for a job I get the best I can for the least amount of money.
This will be systemic. Walmart will get second choice of applicants and be forced to make a move. My daughter is GM of a Target.

Are you guys freaking serious? Are y’all watching the same s*** I’m watching? This is called justice.. y’all are blind
Justice? Driving while drunk first of all put many peoples lives at risk and then he proceeded to assault both officers and steal there weapon and use it against them.

The real justice is coming when we all get what we deserve for our collective and limitless stupidity.

How many comments I see regarding how the police should have dismissed his DUI is absolutely nuts. Much less what happened after.

Justice? How? The DA just charged this police officer with felony murder and a total of 11 charges. Stupid move on his part as he overcharged the crime big time. That wont bode well for this prosecuter

So something that really bothers me is the whole trend of attacking statues of historical figures? Not necessarily confederate statues because imo we shouldn't celebrate traitors but statues of Christopher Columbus, Winston Churchill, ect.

Those people are important to history of our country and other Western nations and removing them because they did things that our culture considers to be immoral today is just wrong. Once you go back far enough, almost everyone who lived in the time period would be considered horrible people today, we shouldn't judge historical figures based on modern values.

We see this in other areas of culture too. I was reading an article recently about a woman who was pulled over for carrying an infant in her lap in the front seat and how she was completely vilified on social media with people saying she was horrible person, that she deserved to have her kids taken, and even taking a moral stance on the issue. Yet, I wonder how many of those people would have reacted that way 40 or 50 years ago before car seats. Parents were told then that holding an infant in your lap in the front seat was the safest and best way to hold them then, and that same mother would have been commended for being responsible and caring.

Now I'm not trying (at all) to imply that this would excuse slavery, but it does show how quickly we can become self-righteous and judgmental. Our culture has reached new heights in that regard.

It's just for show. 99.9999% of the folks bitching couldn't even tell you who the dude is unless somebody told them. Its pretty much to say hey, look at me. I made you take this statue down. Been here sitting for decades...…..Ask these same folks to hand over there folding money with former slave owners on the front

This definitely shows the bandwagon effect and the victim culture. People love to jump on the bandwagon of what makes them feel "enlightened" and popular. The thing is, the breeze doesn't blow the same direction everyday.

Agree, on purpose?
Brooks didnt grab a taser in his drunk mind, he grabbed a gun. His intentions were to turn and fire the weapon he had in his hands. This is a rush to judgement and clear overcharge in my opinion. I would be surprised if it even goes to trial. With that being said Atlanta will at some point be trashed and burnt

Today’s society: If you disagree with someone, just say you’re offended and you win.

And we see how well this is working too. Maybe if we taught personal responsibility, including that we can choose how to deal with our feelings and whether or not we want to be offended, we could take back control of our emotional well being rather than letting everyone else and every circumstance be in control of us. Our culture actually has backwardly rewarded the idea that "everyone else needs to change but me." And when so many think that way...chaos.
