What you are calling a conservative is not what I was when I was a member of that party. The goalposts have moved so far it is a different thing altogether.

Back then we would have called Trump a fascist. (if we had stopped laughing at his stupidity for a moment) The republican party is by all measuring sticks now a far right race and faith based party mostly controlled by corporate interests. Yet insists on being called "conservative" while being anything but that.

Trump does not get to play the "other side", he pretty much just want to destroy anyone who does not agree with him. Including democracy and the rule of law if it gets in the way of his domination. None of that is the party of Reagan, in fact its the opposite, the GOP is dead and something new and frankly scary has taken its place. When you see the Trump Maga and confederate clad counter protesters beating and assaulting people you see something that Reagan and the old guard would denounce instantly, Trump however fills arenas with them and bask in their adoration....

lol i say it’s a given Trump is winning Florida and North Carolina. I think PA&MI will lean trump in a few months with another 1 or 2 states also trending red
 
I was just watching CNN (Communist News Network) making a big deal about the upcoming Trump OK rally as far as the danger of spreading COVID. It is laughable that they’re doing this just after 3 weeks worth of supporting and encouraging massive crowds of protestors and rioters. CNN has become a joke.

I’d call it 5 years going back to Trump’s campaigning in 2015. The irony is that this network that goes out of its way to not report on Trump with even just a barely positive tone just once in a blue moon gave Trump almost nonstop coverage in 2015 almost as if they were part of his campaign! I clearly recall Don Lemon eagerly interviewing him on many evenings thus giving him tons of airtime.

Aside: CNN is also complaining about Trump’s OUTDOOR speech today about police reform being dangerous for COVID spread!!?‍♂️?‍♂️

Wonder if Trump will demand Rasmussen retract their latest poll after they show Biden up 12 pts, last week the CNN poll had Biden up 14 and Trump actually demanded they retract it lol....Trump is fond of Rasmussen since they slant right and usually have the best pro Trump type numbers.....
 
For those who think Trump will win in Nov, who do you think Biden's best VP choice would be? Just based on your gambling instincts.... I'm thinking Kamala Harris, just for the tougher on crime/slash 'she's black' vote. For his best chances, I think his choice absolutely has to be a woman obviously.

Well he backed himself in a corner previously when he said it definitely would be a woman. Harris seems pretty safe although the far left of the party would say she’s been too tough on crime.

Biden has been in political power for over 40 years, 8 years serving the second highest office in the land. He’s had the power to bring about reform on race issues as well as police reform and he hasn’t, it’s that simple. Trump has been in politics for 3.5 years and has done more than Biden has in 40+ years on this issue. Period.
 
The argument that says "Democrats are the party that owned slaves and built the KKK" is, quite frankly, the dumbest argument ever. It totally obscures the fact that white southern Democrats moved to the Republican party during the civil rights movement. Today's Republican party is not Lincoln's party and vice versa.

Yep. History pretty much tells us that the parties converged on their ideas at one point post-Lincoln and diverged later on going in the directions we see them going today. Anyone who has studied US history will realize this.
 
Everyone here should agree that Cooper (NC voters) needs to go regardless of who wins the Presidential election. His handling of this lock down has been atrocious especially in regards to paying unemployment checks to people who have desperately needed them. Also in his "press conference" to have a Q&A with media, was controlled by his handlers and only certain media outlets and questions were allowed to be asked.

Gubner Roy enjoys immense popularity in Chapel Hill/Carrboro and Asheville, but elsewhere not so much. I don't see a path for him to win. Hopefully.
 
So something that really bothers me is the whole trend of attacking statues of historical figures? Not necessarily confederate statues because imo we shouldn't celebrate traitors but statues of Christopher Columbus, Winston Churchill, ect.

Those people are important to history of our country and other Western nations and removing them because they did things that our culture considers to be immoral today is just wrong. Once you go back far enough, almost everyone who lived in the time period would be considered horrible people today, we shouldn't judge historical figures based on modern values.

It's just for show. 99.9999% of the folks bitching couldn't even tell you who the dude is unless somebody told them. Its pretty much to say hey, look at me. I made you take this statue down. Been here sitting for decades...…..Ask these same folks to hand over there folding money with former slave owners on the front

Who is destroying history? I didn't learn history in school by going to see a monument. I still find it amazing that we put up monuments to honor traitors to our country and finished in 2nd place.
