I was looking at the 00z, whoops.

06z for RDU:
0.64" all snow, but from the soundings themselves I get about just under 0.6" all snow, so about 5.9" or so.

Nice to see the 6z showing RDU some love with the 3rd wave next Tue w/ some flakes on the backside... That storm is liable to be an absolute mammoth and I wouldn't mind seeing it trend south and stronger...
 
Wow, the 12Z GFS is going to come in even colder for midmonth!
 
If the GFS is to believed, I can say goodbye to the blueberry plants in my backyard for this year. Two freezes. Geez what a change...

March may very well end up the coldest month of the winter if these colder trends keep up! Something similar happened after the very warm winters of 1889-90 and 1931-2.

And march isnt even winter ! This kinda reminds me of 2012-13. That winter was warm and then it got cold in the spring. That summer wasnt too hot either. Maybe we follow a similar trend this summer and we wont end up with a hot summer like last year ?
 
Winter storm or not unbelievable 7 day forecast for my area, the warmest day 47..... where was this last month? jeez
 
For those of you not liking the cold in store for next week, the GEFS shows a quick return to mostly zonal flow and back to seasonal temperatures (or slightly above) for the week of 3/19
 
I'll be willing to potentially sacrifice some fruit plants for our upper south folk to get to see some snow to wrap up the winter season... Not sure how my dad's going to feel but I'm willing.

Wow, that pattern on the GFS right before truncation looks awfully strange..I know you're just pointing it out storm, but wow that's odd looking
 
The week of 3/11-17 could very well be several degrees colder than the normal for the coldest week of the winter in many cases in the SE US if recent GFS runs are right. For example, SAV has that 7 day period averaging 47, which is 2 degrees colder than the coldest week's normal, which is in early to mid January!

Edit: this would be colder by one degree there vs the previous coldest 7 day period this entire winter!

Gainesville Regional Airport (KGNV)
Lat: 29.69°NLon: 82.28°WElev: 151ft.

Wednesday
Sunny, with a high near 61.

Clear, with a low around 33.

You and I both may very well be flirting with a record low on 3/16! Also, it wouldn't shock me at all if Gainesville through its typical radiational overachieving vs forecasts also gets a freeze as well as a beautiful frost on 3/17. Even 3/18 could still have some frost. I know you're also looking forward to the low 60's highs on 3/15 and 3/16. Typical midwinter days in mid-March!

I'm not forecasting anything - but 29º would not surprise me if the winds go calm.
