Wintry March 05-06th 2019 Wintry Weather

I know the clown maps are just that...but its fun to look at. I do think there will be a light strip of something wintry in that MGM to MCN to CAE to FAY
Man U totally deserve every flake after what u and others in middle GA had to go thru yesterday plus it also snowed for the first time in several years in Vegas who has the same climo as Macon!. This has to be one of the craziest stretches of weather down your way

Well, goodluck to everyone tonight. I hope some people that haven't seen anything see some flurries tonight.

No doubt. I guess there is winter and spring in like 24 hours? Lmao

How in the world is there a warm nose ??? Sure it could still support some snow but whattt AE43F514-F5F1-4DBE-B427-9B15A7276B92.png

Wow, the 18Z GFS qpf is way up. Remember it was near 0 just 3 runs ago. I now think there will be measurable snowfall in several SE states and the biggest central GA/AL/SC wintry event in March in several decades. If ATL gets some, it won't be bigger than 3/2009 though.

Freakin mountains man, they absolutely have killed Columbia in the past couple years. They delay the cold air.

Damn dude I know this sucks, SC is actually shafted right here except for near the coast, mountains are one heck of a driver DC3448D8-BF32-4410-A8BC-28C55623A836.jpeg

Not sure if this means anything for any of us but lightning is being detected on radar in SW Louisiana.

No wonder there’s lightning, Pocket of MUcape and EL temps around -45, that’s allowing some of these showers to get convective in nature 314E61AD-3763-4188-83A9-A21E0A9A6CE0.png

It had places in GA with like 3 inches 4 hours ago. Thing sucks

It’s a little bit deceiving, sure soundings have gotten a bit closer but it’s still a snow sounding, it’s showing sleet but this would support wet snow still with maybe a some sleet pellets mixed in

Still tho that is so close of a sounding, it’s a hard decision if I wanted to go chase that, becuase sleet seems to always ruins things and betting against it is bad most of the time

The 18Z GFS is 6 F colder for Macon vs the 6Z (38 vs 44) thanks mainly to the precip. as of 1 AM. At 7 AM, places barely NW of Macon to Columbus to near Montgomery near the north end of the precip. are down to 26 F! The clown I have gives Macon THE jackpot of 3", which would be a new record high snowfall for March there. The current record is 2.6" from the great 1993 storm.

Edited to mention that 3" would be alltime March MCN snowfall record.

That area deserves it because of yesterday. I don't think anything flies here, but for areas around there, it kind of reminds me of a light snow that I blew off in January 2016. Some places that get in the convective snow might get a nice coating.

If I were in Montgomery, Columbus, Macon, Augusta, Columbia, or Florence right now, I'd actually be very excited about what I COULD see in MBY! Sleep tonight would be a rumor.

yeah if this thing keeps trending like this on the hi-res models im not chasing... it was a stretch anyways with my schedule...

Yep with that run of the RAP i'm out. Thing has shifted wayyyyy south in a matter of a couple hours and now looks close to sleet. Not worth my time, glad winter decided to laugh at me one more time. lol

It seems like there is a little more precip on radar than the current initialization of the HRRR
