Wintry January 29th-30th ARCC Slam Dunk Winter Weather Threat

FWIW, Navy increase on moisture.

I agree with arcc, some models actually do leave a “warmer” layer above 925 hPa, might be stronger than forecasted and actually might be above freezing in that layer instead of what models are showing

Not that it really means much but the GFS, FV3 & GEFS did well with the dusting in north central Alabama and the flurries across the southern part a few days ago.

Nws huntsville going down on totals and talking like we might not get much if anything at all now :(

12z UK - Precip not as good as 00z further west in MS/AL, but is wetter in South GA. Also seems slower. Still going across AL/GA/Carolinas at 00z Wed. Most other models have the precip out of GA by 21z Tuesday.

EDIT: Re-looked at 00z, it's moving at about the same speed, but the UK overall seems slower than the other global/short term models.

why is it these storms or cold fronts always trend worse instead of better? it never fails.
Climo honestly. You can probably count on one hand, the times a cold front produces snow in the South. It’s just not the way to get snow.

Who says it was trending worse? It's trending better for areas further south in MS/AL and other areas not so much, depends where your at
my area had 5.2 then 4.2, 3.1 and now 2,,,,,maybe which is the high end. might be lucky to see some flakes flying.
