Pattern September Somnolence

I'm starting to wonder if fall is ever going to arrive in the south.... Almost every year the first good cold front comes between Sept 15 and 30 but I see no signs of fall air through Sept 27. I was hoping this hurricane would shake up the pattern and somehow bring some cooler air to the south. Anyone have a clue as to when cooler air will arrive ? This is starting to remind me of 2002 when it was like Oct 21st before it got cool.

From 0z last nigh, but the gfs has been honking pretty hard now on a cooler pattern end of month.

We're paying dearly for there not really being a heat wave this summer. Since there wasn't, this summer decided to be longer.

In reality, it's usually very warm through September, but this is ridiculous, I just looked at the highs at the airport. Is it September or is it July? And the hurricane looks like it's only going to provide a possible brief reprieve looking at the numbers (I'd rather not there be a hurricane at all though even though it won't affect me too badly, if it's hurricane vs mid 90s highs, I'd rather have the mid 90s highs and not the destruction that has begun near the North Carolina coast).

Atlanta is running +5 for September and that will only increase over the next week or more. Could this be a top 10 September in terms of warmth ?

There is no way this doesn't end up being a top five warmest September for Atlanta if this pattern continues. There has been three lows below 70, and they were all 69.

Looking like it's going to be another short fall. Ugh...feels like our Springs/Falls are getting shorter every year 5-6 month Summer is disgusting.
Well last Spring it was pretty chilly so not always the case. These hot Septembers really suck though.

Coldest night officially at CHA in August: 60
Sept so far: 69.

Something's wrong with that picture.

Edit: Murphy NC, coldest night in Aug: 53, Sept so far: 62.

Is Murphy in the CHA tv market?

Not sure... It's a good 2 hour drive tho

I just looked at a couple maps, it is. It's the only NC county in that market. Atlanta has the next county over, probably due to the cable service provided comes from over the state line more than anything. That's pretty wild though how warm the lows have been.

I know our local weather guys always mention Murphy, so it makes sense now... I was thinking Asheville for some reason.

It's crazy how far Murphy is from Asheville, it doesn't seem like it would be, but I'm pretty sure it's at least 2.5 hours.

Really in need of rain at my house. Been missed by storms and have seen like .10 an inch in the past 4 weeks. Looks like the rain shield from NC was pushed this way.

My brother lives in Murphy. It takes about 1 hr and 45 minutes to 2 hours to get to asheville.

this has been the wettest September I've seen since I've been here... more heavy rain today, blinding rain when I came back to work after dinner

Every other September has featured 100 by now, not even close this year
