What did these good years have in common?

Incredible blocking. 10/11 had arctic and 14/15 had pacific. But, even the 5 yr run from 05-09 had large periods during those winter with favorable pattern and solidly BN temps. What we are going through now is really rough.

GaWx already pointed out the period in 05 and I posted earlier on how 06 had the strong -NAO in Feb/March. Below is 07 and 09. It wasn't like a end to end torches in any of those winters.

Pretty sure after we mostly roast over the next 20 days that we'll get at least one big cold snap that messes up plants that bloom in what's now pre spring I suppose.

Sad when this gets me all excited:

...LIGHT SNOW POSSIBLE IN NORTHEAST GEORGIA SATURDAY NIGHT...

Light rain may mix with or change to light snow showers Saturday
night producing accumulations up to 1/2 inch. Any accumulations
should be limited to elevations above 2000 feet and on grassy
surfaces. Temperatures will fall into the upper 20s to lower 30s
so some bridges and overpasses may be affected if enough snow
falls.

In other parts of north Georgia, including northwest counties and
far northern parts of the Atlanta metro, a few flurries may be
possible late Saturday night. No accumulations or impacts are
expected in these areas.

Any snow should end by Sunday morning.

I will be in the northeast GA mtns during that time so looking forward to it!

I remember when I lived in Birmingham I used to always see North Carolina and wedge areas get blasted with winter weather... now that I live on the east side of the apps I've seen nothing hardly... makes me want to go back to the other side of the apps.. at least you have a good chance of seeing flurries.
