Bro it’s just snow lolIt's fun to watch these institutions/governments finally start to open up their modeling to the masses, development wise.
We are finally about to have accurate forecasts that keep us from model chasing false Winter weather events, and when they do prominently show, not have to worry about getting let down.
Speaking of; That February thread. I am 100% convinced that chasing the good patterns & models is a symptom of bad trauma from early childhood. It's like a need for consistent let downs to reaffirm we aren't good enough. It's all we know.
Maybe soon the hot AI hologram weather models can start beating us up and make us eat dirt in our everyday lives, for real.
I've lost my mind.
WE WILL NEVER SEE IT AGAINBro it’s just snow lol
I think you need a hugWE WILL NEVER SEE IT AGAIN
I'm not sure why people are giving you the clown emoji. You speak the truth.I don't think it's going to snow here at all this winter. Certainly not more than a trace. All the local mets forecasted above normal snow, too, because of the El Nino. A huge bust. I think it's time to face the truth that it doesn't matter anymore what kind of overall pattern we are in when it comes to getting snow here. For whatever reason our climate is different now and it really is harder to get snow in NC outside of the mountains. A supposedly favorable pattern for snow that worked in the past doesn't give us any greater chance for snow now than a supposedly unfavorable pattern. We just have to be lucky and that luck is getting less and less.
Going to be a long wait until mid AprilMy gosh, bring on severe weather season already.

No bro, summer is the best season, you are guaranteed storms, even during the worst year, outdoor fun, beach time, and no stress about “snow”. Can’t wait to see Shane’s Bermuda brown up from OFBs and no storms to show for it

Yes, it looks like there's a good chance for snow in Durham, NC, this winter. According to the WRAL winter weather outlook for 2023-24, this winter is expected to be slightly cooler than normal due to a strong El Niño pattern, which often brings more snow to the area. Historically, strong El Niño years have resulted in above-average snowfall for the region, with predictions this year suggesting 5 to 7 inches of snow, mostly likely in January [oai_citation:1,2023-24 NC snow outlook: A colder winter and good news for snow lovers](https://www.wral.com/story/how-much-snow-NC-2023-24/21128901/).
The Old Farmer's Almanac's extended weather forecast supports this, indicating that winter temperatures will be above normal overall, but with the best chances for snow occurring in late January and mid-February. The forecast for February specifically mentions possible snow showers early in the month and a snowstorm around February 10-12, with temperatures for the month being slightly below average [oai_citation:2,60-Day Extended Weather Forecast for Durham, NC | Almanac.com](https://www.almanac.com/weather/longrange/NC/Durham).
So, if you're hoping for snow in Durham this winter, the forecast looks promising!

If it's already early February and Durham, NC, hasn't seen any snow yet, there's still a chance for snowfall before the winter ends. The forecast for February 2024 from The Old Farmer's Almanac indicates that there could be snow showers at the start of the month and a potential snowstorm around February 10-12. Even without snow so far, the weather patterns can change rapidly, especially given the predicted strong El Niño conditions this year, which increase the likelihood of snowfall during the winter months [oai_citation:1,60-Day Extended Weather Forecast for Durham, NC | Almanac.com](https://www.almanac.com/weather/longrange/NC/Durham).
The absence of snow up to this point doesn't rule out the possibility of seeing some before winter's end. Weather forecasts, especially those related to snow in regions that do not receive it regularly, can be quite variable. It's also worth noting that the historical data and current forecasts suggest that late January through February is a prime window for snow in Durham during strong El Niño years, as mentioned in the WRAL weather outlook [oai_citation:2,2023-24 NC snow outlook: A colder winter and good news for snow lovers](https://www.wral.com/story/how-much-snow-NC-2023-24/21128901/).
Keep an eye on local weather updates as the month progresses, as forecasts can become more precise with closer proximity to potential snow events.
