This one is also dead, Jim. All of the winter storm threats are dead. It looks rainy and mild over the next 14 days.

I used to enjoy heading into Winter and looked forward to all of the seasonal forecasts. Not anymore. It's simply just foolish to produce a cold outlook anymore. There seem to be literally no combination of variables that lead to anything lower than maybe a -1 for the winter. It sucks.

Welcome to global warming
 
We've had stretches of bad years in the past. Hopefully this is another that's about to end. Three years of la nina have not been good for us in the SE. The mid-south is another story. Memphis has been the winter storm capital (for at least my latitude).
 
As bad as you think this January is I want to say this… it’s the warmest since 1990 … despite that In Raleigh it will finish in 7th place . Think about that… there are 6 Januaries on record that are significantly worse than this… the January holding 6th place alone is nearly a degree warmer than this one… first place over 3 degrees . It took yesterday to take us from 11th to 7th warmest so we weren’t even top 10…. The real January torch will come one of these years…

It can happen, but as BB King sang by then “the thrill is gone”. I’m in the mood for spring at that point
