This looks fun ?

Pre-emergent will be needed stat.

In all seriousness, should I go ahead and put down pre-emergent next weekend? The long range is warm. February is a torch. March, might be below average but still warm enough for stuff to grow and sun angle is strong then. It sounds like next weekend is a good time to get a jump on the weeds.

He isn't a degreed professional. He got a BS in environmental sciences. He's not a meteorologist

So what is a BS degree in atmospheric science? Is that not a study of the atmosphere and atmospheric patterns? I realize it is not a met degree, but I thought the two overlapped. I'm slightly confused

Environmental science is not the same thing as atmospheric science, like not even close in terms of course work (particularly the required math and physics courses). Mark doesn’t have a met degree. In fact, he flunked out of PSU’s meteorology program

for fescue I put it down Valentines give or take. Then again in mid April. But if we blowtorch last half of January then I might move it up a week or two.

It’s a gnarly pattern being modeled. ?‍♂️

Now isn't the greatest time unless you want to reapply in March

I am cultivating centipede, here. It took it on the chin during the Christmas deep freeze (it was crunchy) so I know the weeds are going to have a head start.

Yeah, we don't need near 0 again, we just need 32 degrees, and 32 is pretty common in winter, even warm winters. It's timing that makes the difference.
No where near 32 here, even at night from the GFS. It looks like mid March or early April. Most of the cold is in Siberia. I don't think it's coming back around to this side of the globe.

Lol, I'm pretty sure the models are only half as good as they need to be. Two or three days is about all the surety that's possible from them. So I just go by 3 day increments. It makes the winter last much longer, and seem more positive, or possible :) Everything else is just hopium.

Atlanta hit a record high today of 73, and we look to cool down to slightly above average for a day or two, then jump right back up to +5-10. Things are pretty dormant after the short cold spell, but I’m with you, I think it’s time for pre-emergent. Things should be greening up here in the next few weeks.

You and Weatherfried should both plant your summer crops, I'm sure they will do great!
