Did you mean December ?I knew we shouldnt have wasted our cold in November, but no, no everybody wanted it to be cold.
The biggest issue I had with them yesterday was when they said that conditions got colder than expected… I thought overall the cold snap had been very well forecasted by all outlets for the entire week leading inF Duke Energy. Corrupt company arm of state government. Hope they collapse. Honestly as harsh as this sounds the grid collapsing from the cold might have been the best... could have led to Dukes demise and better practices. Instead they will cover up and put more bandages on as they have always done. Maybe a summer heatwave can knock it out

Winter just doesn't winter anymore. What a difference a month makes. A month ago everyone was excited about the possibilities of winter and now reality has set in.
At least its Jan 4 and not Feb 4. I've always thought that Jan 15-Feb 15 was our best period for winter weather.Winter just doesn't winter anymore.
when I started my warehousing job 23 years ago we were in winter gear from October to April. Once it got cold it stayed codlin there. I am wearing shirt sleeve shirts in January now.Winter just doesn't winter anymore.
Yeah they’re fast I’ve already seen em.Fros worst nightmare! ?View attachment 129301
If it was Feb 4, it would be better to not see cold showing up, if the previous month was cold. When it's Jan 4 and there is no cold and you know February is going to roast, it is so much worse. When we get to Feb 4 and there was no cold or winter in January and we see constant April temps and rain, it is going to be ok, because reality has had plenty of time to sink in.At least its Jan 4 and not Feb 4. I've always thought that Jan 15-Feb 15 was our best period for winter weather.
BUT WE WERE PROMISED SNOWI remember Forsythia blooming when I was at home for Christmas break during HS and college not sure this warmth is a new thing
That’s about a thimble full more than I got up in Greer the week before Christmas. I had forgot my tire chains and was scared I wouldn’t make it back home.Building it back….️ View attachment 129320
This time last year Nashville was 2 days away from this. The pattern was kind of flip flopped compared to this winter so far. Very warm December followed by cold January, especially nights. It’s been the exact opposite this winter.I don’t have time to go way back through the threads, but this time last January what was everyone talking about pattern wise in here? Was it looking good at this point? We’re we already seeing signals of the January 16th storm?
Maybe you just got smaller and it appears like it is higher. Much better chance at that happening I would think.I know we are only a couple weeks past the winter solstice, but it seems like the sun angle is higher than it usually is this time of year.
It just feels more intense to me than it normally does this time of year.Maybe you just got smaller and it appears like it is higher. Much better chance at that happening I would think.
I noticed it was very intense recently here in Birmingham. I just thought that I forgot about what it felt like this time of year since I haven't been here in about 4 years. I don't remember it being this intense in the Carolinas. It just feels more intense to me than it normally does this time of year.
Yeah earth got knocked off its axis. Crazy stuffI know we are only a couple weeks past the winter solstice, but it seems like the sun angle is higher than it usually is this time of year.
You're taking backyard report pictures from your neighbors front porch? That is some sly, cunning, fool the Google, s*** right there!House next door. And it's northwest of my location and usually marks the rain/snow boundary.
If such a foothills paste bomb were to materialize, where would one best experience such an event, that doesn't require a four wheel drive vehicle to access? As @Myfrotho704_ & I have been saying for a few days, the pattern + analogs generally can support a mountains & foothills paste bomb, which is what the GEFS is hinting at.
Outside of that, I'd be pretty skeptical for now.
It's already too far NW... nextHmmm.
