This can’t be right. I was told winter is completely over. No chance at anything! Warm torch forever. Get ready for next year. ???

Don't you mean from 30 to 20?Interesting, the post per page count decreased from 20 to 30.
I'm not seeing it. Looks like they all peter out in the COD, which means there's not much influence from that signal, unfortunately.mjo looks good in 8,1 and 2 but pacific hose sucks
As much of a torch enthusiast I am, we’re gonna revert to a cooler pattern when the pacific jet calms down.I'm not seeing it. Looks like they all peter out in the COD, which means there's not much influence from that signal, unfortunately.

That said, I'm not going to worry too much about a prolonged torch that eats up most of the winter. A warmer couple of weeks is likely. After that, who knows. I highly doubt this will be another 1989.
YeahDon't you mean from 30 to 20?
Yep exactly, the reason why I was frothing over the last pattern was because, it had the ability to produce snow, but I didn’t. Some good patterns just don’t produce. the cold was absolutely miserable, it was cool for the 1st day but I got old quick. I mean who enjoys that sort of stuff ? The outdoors is essential to one’s health, vitamins and just mental health. and 60 degree weather is perfect outdoor weather. Next week and a half looks good for that. I’m happy. When I start seeing a look that supports snow on ensembles, I start to post the maps everyone loves again.
Didnt central NC have a good ice storm in Dec 1987?If you want to get a good idea of what this pattern potentially has in store for us through mid month, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to look at the Decembers of strong-super El Niños (1877, 1888, 1896, 1902, 1905, 1918, 1925, 1930, 1940, 1941, 1957, 1965, 1972, 1982, 1987, 1991, 1997, 2009, & 2015). Not a complete shutout overall, but in general it’s not a good pattern for a big snow & it’s certainly a pretty mild & wet look for most.
Thanks for the reminder birdman, wilkesborodudeEnjoy the weather it’s the only weather you got.
Thanks JBEnjoy the weather it’s the only weather you got.
Can we punt Feb, March, April, and May too?Looks like we are punting January! Cool
Happy New year
I got youLast week we were flying high into Jan ready to rock and roll. And then oops View attachment 128866
Put a speed limit. The pacific is about to get really bad. Just a parade of waves slamming into the west coast one after the other. PAC jet is screaming. How do we disrupt that? Or are we about to go full on Niño and throw our hands in the air?
Wary FebrurarySomeone start the February thread. January is toast.
As long as I can punt the heat during May-Sept!Can we punt Feb, March, April, and May too?
The Sierra Nevadas are licking their chopsThis should have its own index. +ENA (Eastern North America index)? That's a true block. What a joke and it stays for whole run for the most part.View attachment 128878
Love the little random 2" snow near Peachtree City.
I'm gonna say it...EPS much warmer in the longer range !! View attachment 128879View attachment 128880
LOL that whole map is a joke,,,-5 in Columbia, lol, vs, -4 in ATL never would happen...ATL would be like -10CFS is a Southeast dream in the long range. It shows multiple cold shots along with wintery precip for most on the board. It would indicate that the pattern change would start around day 12 through the end of the month.
Just for fun, here's the last day (with snow on the ground):

All in extreme fantasy land, but at least it's saying no torch.
Ahh, bless it's little heart! It does try to be a grown up weather model...CFS is a Southeast dream in the long range. It shows multiple cold shots along with wintery precip for most on the board. It would indicate that the pattern change would start around day 12 through the end of the month.
