Russia is going to lose big here, Germany hit on their pipeline is a big deal but it has not been built yet but it is a clear sign that if Russia wants to sell gas to Europe this is the wrong way to go about it, they are going to lose hundreds if not thousands of soldiers in a massively unpopular war, and when the sanctions due out today all come home to roost and the top Russian oligarchs start feeling the squeeze they will be begging Putin to back off. There is nothing for Putin to win here, at best he ends up with two little "independent" nations that don't want to be under his umbrella and will be a constant thorn in his side.
The western countries are flexing a lot of capabilities right now and making sure Putin see's all of it. In the end Russia is not a a super power anymore, their nukes is the only reason they are able to try and force global policy. The USA however can and will project power anywhere on the planet we want, when we want and with the ability to use that force to win. Those post WeatherNC makes about asset moving are a very clear warning and indicator to Putin that the USA is taking this very very seriously.
