Tropical TS Henri

This could be a big problem for the NE and now only about 3 days out. HWRF has it diving inland and just kind of spinning out over land.

It’s virtually impossible to get a strengthening cane on landfall there . That thing is fighting very cold water . Sandy technically was doing the same thing, it technically wasn’t a cane , but a hybrid storm . Which aided it actually more as it gave it a much larger wind field .

Yeah its more about where it's hitting than strength. We are hardened down here with hurricanes, they are certainly not in that area. It will test a lot of infrastructure if it actually happens. They are used to Noreasters though so we will see.

Latest Euro ensemble map

This is a pretty big jump west.....probably factoring in the more south movement now maybe....NC especially the OBX better not sleep on this just yet.....notice also that the further west members are all S of W in the short term....which is what we are seeing versus the well OTS which show N or W motion and weak now....

If we continue to see SW movement and some strengthening were going to be seeing some big changes in ensembles and models in general

Yeah you'd have to think putting eastern Long Island, the CT, RI, MA coasts in the right front quadrant will cause some issues. It might be better for them if it stays offshore then does the slow loop at least that would keep much of the surge at bay

I was kind of looking for a Surge comparison. Maybe Hurricane Bob, probably not as strong and a bit more on the coast but a lot has been built here in the last 30 years too.

Those western Euro ens would pile water into Delaware Bay and points north depending on how big and strong the system is....

Really really hate there has been no recon yet on a system right off the east coast that could effect the US in as early as 48 hrs yet they have been flying Grace since it entered the islands....

I was stomped on, laughed at and spit at for saying the OBX is still within a risk of a hit. Regardless, flooding, rip currents and big waves are gonna crash into the OBX now and cause some damage. Erosion will be bad.

NC-12 washout. Will erosion be bad though? NE winds cause the most erosion on the OBX if I'm not mistaken.

12Z UKMET goes over Long Island not far from NYC!
