I could literally see hurricane winds if the current track holds. This is pretty intense.
Wind is invisible, though.I could literally see hurricane winds if the current track holds. This is pretty intense.
Good point lol.Wind is invisible, though.
This is true you won’t see the winds per say, but you will see the effects of wind which is much more mesmerizing.Good point lol.
I dont even understand how this is an debate. This is an especially unsual track for them which is going to combine wind they usually dont see with systems with rain they typically do.South and east facing slopes will double the rainfall totals of Atlanta area. Plus the fact that terrain promotes mudslides and the higher elevation pokes into to the stronger elevated wind field. The mountains will be ground zero outside of the immediate coast.
Like some NC posters in winter if one snow flake might fall. All the posters in GA now.

It never gives up on any TC being sub 900, come on folks the NAM isn't a TC model. It's been explained time and time againHello everyone. This may have been mentioned, but the nam isn't giving up yet on Helene being sub 900mb![]()
Are we back to trussin’ a boundary layer model for TC development and path?It never gives up on any TC being sub 900, come on folks the NAM isn't a TC model. It's been explained time and time again
Go load up on beer and honeybuns.I have given up on any possibility of watching the Georgia-Alabama game. I'm not gonna have power for days if this track holds.
No local bars? Someone will have power.I have given up on any possibility of watching the Georgia-Alabama game. I'm not gonna have power for days if this track holds.
I guess I could watch on my phone if I have cell service ?No local bars? Someone will have power.
Where are you at? Americus?I guess I could watch on my phone if I have cell service ?
Yeah good luck with thatI have given up on any possibility of watching the Georgia-Alabama game. I'm not gonna have power for days if this track holds.
East side is less likely/will not have a temperature inversion so the higher winds mix down. The west side is likely to start wrapping in some cooler BL dews leading to a temp inversion which makes it harder to mix down the stronger gustsAll of this is confusing. So the strongest winds will be on the east side and heaviest rain on the west side. Seems like the strongest winds would be in the area with the heaviest rain.
I really don't know why he does that. Back in 2016 he forecasted 8-12 inches of snow and it rained. -------- up in Charlotte did the same but learned his lesson. These models have a tendency to model the high impact systems as catastrophic historic systems. Chris Justus always takes the most extreme solutions and talks them up well before he should. At least wait until inside 48 hrs. Yesterday was too early and the changes overnight will have an impact here. The consensus is 100 miles west of what some of those extreme solutions were here. That's going to change things regardless of the size of the overall system..What’s bad is how much Chris Justus hyped it up yesterday. We are to the point around here where it would be best to get no heads up and just see what happens the day of.
Folks
No need for AC. Summer is over.atlanta board members in for a rude awakening with how much these things absolutely suck. like 3 hours of meteorological "whoa" for a week of pain and no AC
i've got friends that chase these things and i get absolutely nothing out of it. growing up in wilmington i think maybe they wore out their welcome some, for the most part the whole thing is just a windy grey
That’s quite the proclamation but I tend to agree. No need for AC. Summer is over.
The drought has already destroyed any chance of that anyways.I hope this doesn't hurt the Fall Foliage season in North GA.
Dude, I run my AC in the winter, I'm a hot blooded freak. No need for AC. Summer is over.

That’s the worst part of it. I’d much rather it hit during the day.Yeah especially with this coming through at night. It's gonna become not fun quickly
I was 7 when Opal hit and it's still vivid to me
This will definitely be the worst one since Irma back in 2017.atlanta board members in for a rude awakening with how much these things absolutely suck. like 3 hours of meteorological "whoa" for a week of pain and no AC

will likely be worse than irma for georgia on a wholesale levelThis will definitely be the worst one since Irma back in 2017.
I'm 135 miles south of Atlanta though.Meh Atlanta will be fine, don’t get your hopes up those wind maps overblown and being 3000000 miles inland makes a difference.
You’ll be fine , go home to Indiana it’s safer thereI'm 135 miles south of Atlanta though.
RIPI'm 135 miles south of Atlanta though.
