Severe Severe weather threat April 17-19

View attachment 19274

Instantaneous VAD-derived sounding at RAX (Raleigh radar site) has 0-3km SRH up above 300 now. Curved hodograph extends to 3 km layer which is the benchmark for "veer-back" disruption theory.

VBV definitely had a effect on the storms back in Texas/Oklahoma a few days ago, for example this, storms were sheared apart, VBV today has been very weak, models were indicating it would be stronger a few days ago but weakened it over time, unfortunately, a few days ago these soundings had some very good examples of vbv EC0417BC-8138-43DD-AAB4-90B6CA27314B.jpeg

WRAL watching four different areas of rotation now. Mike Maze is doing a great job with the coverage today.

He did an exemplary job with the play-by-play for the April 16, 2011 Raleigh tornado. Doing a fantastic job with this one as well. Surprised he hasn't been named new chief already.

This storm has history of producing tornado damage...for the storm in Hickory headed north.

Sun is almost completely out in east Johnston County, this cant be good at a time like this.

Man things have erupted and this cell has my attention...

Debris indicated on radar at Dodson's Crossroads in Orange County.

Tornado crossed 40 and headed towards 85. Headed to more populated area.

No severe storms here thankfully but got almost 9" of rain! Lots of roads closed from flooding..most I've ever seen around here

I am in HIllsborough. Very strong wind came through. Lots of trees down a couple hundred yards from my house. At least one car hit.
