Severe Severe weather threat April 17-19

It's going to really surprise me if there's not at least damage from that storm. It was standing out to me even before it crossed over into the lowcountry of SC.

Edit: If I were in Walterboro I'd be scared with that radar presentation.

Okay so I’m confused I don’t know if the models aren’t seeing it right but there’s a pretty stout squall line behind what suppose to be the main event I think ... can someone explain what’s going on there? Is that the main line or

Yea don't sleep on the backend of this storm system. Last night in Atlanta the it initially hit with a big burst of wind and rain around 5am, and just as it was appearing it was going to be gone, the thunder and lightening show started and it was the best i've seen in probably 3 years. House was shaking like crazy, it was fun to see.

Had some wierd rotation then saw what appear to be a developing funnel cloud that was spinning, but getting lots of scud in it, it looked like the rotation itself was on top of me but then I saw that to the west and saw it was rotating much faster, How weird 41925DDE-28B9-4555-A4D7-8C3DC4A8CDE0.jpeg

Hrrr last night showed this thing not moving out of western upstate until 3pm or so. Didn’t really show two lines but I do think the Hrrr hinted on it.

Worth watching. Nothing crazy showing up. Moderate wind and rain mainly. I would say the tornado threat is all but gone here for us. I think normal radar depiction is a little deceiving

Mesoscale Discussion 0405
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK

Areas affected...Portions of southwest VA into western NC and
northern SC

Concerning...Tornado Watch 88...

Valid 191740Z - 191945Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 88 continues.

SUMMARY...Severe threat continues across Tornado Watch 88. Damaging
wind gusts and isolated tornadoes will be possible with the more
organized, long-lived storms.

DISCUSSION...The surface low across eastern TN continues to
translate northeast as it deepens, fostering an intensification of
the low-level wind field and associated low-level shear across
Tornado Watch 088. Continued northward advection of warm, moist air
into the region is fostering a gradual increase in instability, with
up to 1000 J/kg MLCAPE noted across southeastern portions of the
watch. As the mid-level trough continues to approach from the west,
increasing deep-layer ascent is expected to contribute to an uptick
in convection in the next few hours.

Latest high-resolution model guidance suggests that convection will
remain semi-discrete in nature. The more intense cells will be
capable of producing damaging wind gusts. A few tornadoes are also
possible with storms that can sustain strong low-level rotation.

Tornado Warning northern NC foothills into south-west Virginia. Virginia has been slammed all day

Damage occurred in SE GA from Jesup to Hinesville to Rincon (tornado seen there) and also the western portion of SAV metro from straight line winds and/or possible tornado including close to SAV airport, where a 64 mph gust was reported. Many power outages. Downed trees/power lines. At least one warehouse had its roof taken off west of SAV. Before the squall line came in, it was already quite windy. Rainfall amounts weren’t heavy, however.

Absolutely regretting my decision to go south on i77 to Statesville. I should have went north. Will give it 2 more hours before I head back home.
