Ive always said that Sept is either feast or famine, all depending on how active the tropics are. Sept is either bone dry or very wet. Not much in between.

The historic Atlanta flood of 2009 occurred in September. I believe parts of western Atlanta had over 20 inches of rain in less then 24 hours during it.

Looks like we may stay dry for the rest of the month up here. Seeing how wet we’ve been lately I am fine with that. It’s also great for fall color!
66 degrees this morning and it feels amazing. And this is only the beginning. Could see upper 40s to around 50 in a few days. I'm excited. We only got around .3 inches of rain from Sally though, so that was disappoint.

My Zoysia didn't really wake up till last week of June, from several late Cad's, including that high of 57! Now it's beginning to slow down. I didn't start my watermelon until end of May, and they didn't do a whole lot in June. They are just now ripening and they taste like crap from ripening in cooler weather & lower sun angles / shorter days.

Looks like the PNW trough might be a little shorter lived in the extended thus shorter duration ridging in the east into New England.
May be another round of eastern troughing and below normal temps during the first week of October. As long as the AAM stays neutral to positive I'll take the normal to below temps

Looks like a pattern similar to last April/May with very transient ridging around here, and those big UL troughs favoring severe, i think this time period needs to be watched given the transient nature of this pattern

Y'all should remember that my dad keeps the A/C at a high temperature, but we've been under a full cloud deck for most of the day as well so we're actually cooler.
Honestly I'm surprised though. The A/C is at 77, the house temp is at 77, and yet I have not heard the A/C.
Yes, with the fan, I'm feeling fine despite the A/C being set to come on at a temp that is kinda high.

I couldn't imagine keeping the house temp at 77. That seems very uncomfortable.
I'm a 72 guy... I'd get night sweats in the Summer with any higher setting..

At the time being where that was posted, it was 78 with Atlanta itself reporting 81.
The A/C did come on a few times but not until later.
But yeah, my dad's preference was probably the main contributor.

My wife’s aunt that lived in Pensacola would keep her house at 59 year round and run the fireplace in all seasons. I don’t want to think what she paid.

Thankfully we get 7 days a year of cold weather so the A/c gets a rest.
Ive kept my house at 69 during the day lately, but generally 72 during the day and 68 at night during the hot summer days. With 2100 square feet my electric bill fluctuates between $100-$125 during the summer, my latest is $121. A little bit of elevation and a canopy of oaks and hickories goes a long way for energy savings.
